OK,

Cunning Wish reads:

Color= Blue  Type= Instant  Cost= 2U JU®
Text (JU): Choose an instant card you own from outside the game, reveal that card, and put it into your hand. Remove ~this~ from the game.

Rout reads:

Color= White  Type= Sorcery  Cost= 3WW IN®
Text (IN): You may play ~this~ any time you could play an instant if you pay {2} more to play it. ; Destroy all creatures. They can't be regenerated.

Question is, Will Cunning Wish pull this from the sideboard even if the keyword on Rout is Sorcery and is only an instant when paying the Kicker?

I know it would be an expensive as heck Wrath since you'd have to pay 3 total for the wish then 7 for the Rout, but it would be a killer (no pun intended) surprise at the end of someone else's turn.

Oh, and I sent in my application, so hopefully i'll be registered soon.

Thanks
Dan

No, Cunning Wish can not fetch a Rout (or similar card such as Ghitu Fire or even Simian Grunts).  Even though it may be played as an instant, it is still considered a Sorcery for things like the Wishes, Blood Oath, etc.

The best board sweeper you can get with Cunning Wish would probably be Starstorm, since it's an instant and can wipe the board clean with enough mana.

Thanks for the ruling and great idea about Starstorm.

I'll have to snag a few copies of that card.
