Hi everyone,
I got somewhat of an idea for parfait. I know some of you will probably not agree with this, but tell me what you think anyways and explain.
What would you think of adding in a bit of blue. You can put in a few standstills, Replenish those back, and when you are out of Replenishes, TimeTwister!
Do you think this would be viable, or is it just another dumb idea.

Check out ABM on the main vintage forums... it's like enchantress, but instead of green... blue. You might like it.

Hmmm....
It seems to me that we've got ourselves an abundance of weird additions to the common Parfait build lately.

This post reminds of a quasi similar thread on whether or not the ever popular Abyss has a place in the conventional Parfait deck. The Abyss thread has gotten lots of feedback from players over the time in which it has been posted, and the way I see it, a lot of that feedback looks something like this: "The Abyss is fun to play with, but all in all it's really just another silver bullet".

I couldn't agree with this more. While The A-Train (my funky name for the Abyss) is fun to play with, it just doesn't add much to a deck that already runs wraths, swords, and, most importantly, Humility! Similarly, while your idea is most definitely not stupid, in my opinion, it doesn't add much to a deck that already uses scroll racks, soldevi digger, and land taxes! When you consider adding a new element to a deck type that has already been laid in stone, you've always got to ask yourself the crucial questions: "What do I want to remove to make room for my idea?" "What effect will adding my idea and removing the previous cards have on the deck's performance?" Besides these two questions, you've also got to prove that your build is at least as consistent, or has better consistency as compared to the original build.

Mana is a problem as well. If you want to splash blue or black in Parfait, where do you make cuts for it? How do you decide where to stop with additional mana? (duel lands hurt the taxing). Splashing colors in a mono color deck that is already efficient and smooth can easily cause mana screw and off color hosing, which you NEVER want to see against a difficult match-up.

If you ask me, Parfait already has a timetwister thingy going on with the soldevi digger/land tax/scroll rack combo, and it already has an Abyss of it's own with the plethora of creature removal and Humility, so why open up weaknesses to be exploited in an already strong deck?

Don't get me wrong, I am by no means spurning your idea to splash blue into your Parfait deck, nor am I trying to discourage others (namely those Abyss advocating people) from trying out different and fascinating card choices in popular t1 decks (or rogue decks, for that matter). What I am saying is that you should think VERY carefully about what your change is implying for this deck, and whether or not the deck really needs it to be 'better' than it already is. It's like one reply from the other thread stated: "go too far, and you'll end up with a keeper deck in no time." (sorry if I forgot whose reply it was). The way I see it, why change that which doesn't need to be changed?

If you feel like trying out the blue splash, I've no problem with that. In fact, go ahead! Try it out. Create your own deck list and post it back here with your play testing results and rationale. With any luck, maybe you'll prove me wrong and start some serious debate on the subject...

Whatever.
That's my opinion, my ideas, my 69 cents, the whole lot.
Have fun with your idea.
