as the title says, i'm pondering whether or not it's possible to make an aggro blue deck (probably merfolk based), similar to the old T1 deck that ran (i believe) magical hacks, merfolk, lord of atlantis, unstable mutation, that 1/1 flying bird for 1U, counterspell, phantasmal terrain, etc. (its in an old version of a MTG game on pc as well), ethemyral blue or something?? anyways, basically i wanna know if there are enough merfolk or other creatures that you could construct a viable t1 tourny deck for aggro blue, obviously backed by essential cards (power 9, etc) and whatnot, but focused on aggro....??

its probably a dumb idea, but just a thought.
anyone have suggestions/ideas?

Well, you could take a look at the various Fish builds currently in use...these are merfolk-based aggro-control decks featuring a low mana curve, pitch counters, and a focus on card advantage.

While they don't tend to use many of the cards you listed (such as Phantasmal Terrain, Magical Hack etc.), some versions use Unstable Mutation.

Try doing a search for 'Fish' in the Vintage boards.

Its acually quite a smart idea.
Generally, when people think blue, they think control/combo.
but why not aggro?
Well for a start, If you have acces to power 9, and Mana Drains, you tend to go more controlish (tell me if i am wrong) then if you do not have power 9 and are on a limited budget.
However, recently there has been a slight change in this. A fairly new arch type is evolving. Its known as Fish.
However, if you are looking for something different, or more Aggro then fish, I would suggest some Merfolk Build, with Lord of Atlantis and other good merfolk. Phantasmal Terran..well its odd, but I LIKE it. Its a fun card to play. If you are able to fit it into your build GREAT orelse its not the end of the world. If you would be interested, I am in the process of making a new deck (not invented) that might have something to do with Aggro Blue  .
If you are interested, my email is French_Skater@hotmail.com
Hope this was useful in anyway,

I posted today a blue aggro deck that uses cheap blue fliers and counters to maintain control, while drawing massive cards. Give it a look, and give me some feedback! You might find that your blue might want to take to the air instead of being underwater!

Btw, the deck was called Ethyl Merman.

Fish has been around for a very long time.  Some more people have been paying it attention lately, but it's existed as long as a decent number of Merfolk has.

i looked at gay fish shortly after i posted this last night, it was exactly what i was looking for (aggro blue) but i'm still pondering the idea of the unstable mutation/serendib builds...
