Yeah, this tournament was like a week ago, so my memory may be hazy. Pfft.. what am I saying, may?

Anyways, so last Saturday, I wake up 20 minutes before the tournament will start, and I arrive late. So what else is new. Luckily a few other players had called and would be a bit late, so I was still able to enter.

I was there with my friends Andrew (PhOeNiX) and Matt. After lending Matt my Ankh Sligh deck, and almsot all of my power to Andrew for his TnT deck, I quickly filled out my deck registration form. I would be playing Suicide Black, my usual. My deck looked like this:

//Creatures
4 Hypnotic Specter
4 Nantuko Shade
4 Phyrexian Negator
3 Phyrexian War Beast
//Spells
4 Duress
4 Hymn to Tourach
4 Sinkhole
3 Powder Keg
1 Demonic Consultation
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Necropotence
1 Yawgmoth's Will
//Mana Sources
15 Swamp
4 Dark Ritual
4 Wasteland
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Jet
1 Strip Mine
//Sideboard
3 Contagion
3 Diabolic Edict
3 Dystopia
3 Masticore
3 Null Rod

Ok, so, here we go.

Round One vs Matt playing Ankh Sligh

Game One: Yay, who gets paired against their friend first round?   Anyways, he gets a very fast start seeing a god mix of burn and creatures. I see 5 straight swamps. Whoot.
SB: -4 Phyrexian Negator, -1 Necropotence, +3 Masticore, +2 Contagion

Game Two: Can you say turn 1 Masticore off a Lotus? I can.

Game Three: He has a decent start game three with a turn 1 and 2 Pup, and a Bolt to my face. However, Contagion takes care of those things before they deal more than 2 damage. NastyCore decides to drop in once again and end the game. This was a preticularly funny game, as some loser tells Matt to stop swearing because there a minors present. What a jerkoff. Matt needed a smoke, so we went outside, making fun of that guy the whole time anyways.

Record: 1-0-0 / 2-1-0

Round Two vs Craig playing Star Spangled Slaughter

Game One: I get a pretty fast start with a first turn Duress hitting a Force of Will. Turn two, I Waste his Tundra and Ritual out a Hyppie. He topdecks an StP, but doesn't see another white source. My Hyppie is quickly joined by a Negator and the game ends shortly after.
SB: -3 Powder Keg, +3 Diabolic Edict

Game Two: He starts off doing the Volcanic Island, go thing. I start off with the Swamp, Ritual, Duress, Hymn thing. He stalls on land while my War Beasts beats for three a turn. He finally rips into a 5th and and drops Cardboard Jesus. My Edict is Forced. My second one however, isn't.

Record: 2-0-0 / 4-1-0

Round Three vs Mark playing Stacker

Game One: This game involvs me basically bending over for his Juggernauts, Su-Chis, and burn to anally rape me.
SB: -4 Phyrexian Negator, -3 Powder Keg, -1 Necropotence, +3 Diabolic Edict, +3 Masticore, +2 Contagion

Game Two: I start out with early hand disruption, leaving him landscrewed. Sinking his only hand doesn't help him either, and Shady takes it all the way.

Game Three: Wow, see game two. TWO Hymns on turn one nail all the land he was holding. He topdecks a Workshop, which meets my Wasteland. The Shade swoops in to finish this one off.

Record: 3-0-0 / 6-2-0

Round Four vs Andrew (PhOeNiX) playing TnT

Since we're the only 3-0's, we I.D. into the top 4, and I go for McGreaser's. Mmm.. empty calories.

Rcord: 3-0-1 / 6-2-1

Top Four vs Chris playing TnT

Game One: Ugh, I'm pissed off going into this one because the other 3 of us wanted to draw and split, but Chris here would have none of it. Matt and I were making some amusing comments on the ride home, lets say. Anyways, he won, as TnT usually does.

Game Two: I put up more of a fight, but it still isn't enough. Oh well, not like I had a chance anyways. I went to play mental Magic with Matt and some of my other friends who hadn't made top 4.

Record: 3-1-1 / 6-4-1

So, Andrew ended up splitting with the Chris guy, and giving me half of his winnings. Fair enough. Not bad for a day of type one. On Sunday, March 16th, I'll be playing in another T1 tournament, so look for my report on that.
Thanks for reading this shit.
Peace out and rock on
~J

Props:
Andrew: For beating Mr. Bye first round. Heard it was a tough match.
Me: for beating Stacker with Suicide black.
Matt: For being friggin' hilarious the whole time.

Slops:
Ronald McDonald: Damn child mollestor charges too much for his greasy "food".
Matt: For not beating Chris to keep him outta the top 4.

Contrary to what you might think, it is not "cool" to spew expletives while in the presence of children.

True, you've got a point. But that kid was swearing like a feind on Friday night!

I have been playing Suicide Black for 3 years now and it works great for me. I like the idea for your deck, but if you don't mind me saying so, You should Try Mishra's factory in there instead of the warbeast. It adds more mana sorces to the deck, and they can pump each other up. They have worked well for me and if anybody decides to try it might work for you too.

I choose the Warbeasts over Factories because the beasts are out of Bolt range, and don't get Wasted/Stripped.

i have a friend thats running mishras in his sui black but i'm against it, wasteland is much more powerful, cutting off your opponents crucial mana is much better then doing 2 dmg (which can easily be made up by a negator or shade) also one of the strengths of sui black is it's stable mana base, adding mishras just gives your opponents wasteland a target.

In a deck that is so heavily dependant on Black mana sources (i.e. Hymn to Tourach, Hypnotic Specter, Nantuko Shade, Sinkhole), I don't think Mishra's Factories are the best idea.

The deck gets along fine with 5 Strip/Wastes as its only non-Black mana.

- all warbeats.
+ 4 Unearths.

Why play bad creatures, when you can just play the best ones again?

Aside from the fact that War Beasts dodge The Abyss,
and pro-black, and COP/Story Circle,
the following sentence was in the report you're replying to.

Quote
Quote He stalls on land while my War Beasts beats for three a turn.

How much does Unearth swing for again?

Whoops?

How many can you play before this isn't worth the risk?

Yes, masticore is what, only the 4th best creature ever printed?

And when does your sui build have 2 mana to spend to just cycle a spell?

To slightly switch topic.. I would like to hear the order in which Masticore is the fourth best creature ever. (I play Suicide all the time, top eighted the championships with it.. and I don't run Masticore main or board. I sure do run Unearth though.)

Unregistered users: Why waste your time where you aren't appreciated?  The Mana Drain is unlikely to let you in its Ivory Tower.  Many here are totally close-minded and self-proclaimed experts. Most of the members just lurk, like parasites,  they contribute nothing.  The moderators state a criterion for acceptance, but it is inconsistently applied.

There are several of you that write intelligent, inciteful pieces that are well written.  However, if your point of view is not the same as theirs,  forget trying to get in.  There are other sites that have been mentioned in other threads that will welcome you.  Collectively, you could make a site that rivals this one.

Say hello to the death squad. Buh bye. Oh and I'm sure you can have a nice time at another site. Have fun talking about Carrion Ants and Sedge Trolls. -Zherbus

Your ignorance continues.  I have NEVER said one word about Carrion Ants and or Sedge Trolls.  So much for freedom of speech.  I guess we are all equals, but some of us are more equal than others huh Big Brother.

PS. Attack this library computer too.

Well, thats usually what you get at other sites so have fun. Where is my ignorance? Hmm? Freedom of Speech doesn't apply in a private entity, so bugger off now. For the audiences information, he posted the same post in about 10 different threads. People like this will take your posting rights away.

Oh, and I can ban whole Networks so keep hopping around until I get sick of banning whole buildings or I shut off unregistered posting.

I wonder what made him think this is a democracy?

hell, even countries that claim to be and believe in democracy don't uphold it.... (lo Bush)

So what makes you think you have the right to come in here and be a complete moron?

Since you probably won't post here anymore, feel free to email me at you@areamoron.com, and we'll have a discussion about it.
