Hi,
I have had my a$$ handed to me the last 2 weeks vs. mud. I Play hulk and I play tendrils mainly. (also a version of mask, but we won't get into that) My hulk is R U B and the tendrils is B U W. I just seem to be having huge problems dealing with the sphere of resistance.

My questions are:

what type of sideboards do people have specifically for Welder Mud?

what needs to be countered/ taken care of in priority? Welder, smokestack, sphere? etc...

any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

It would be easier to give you  some advice on the matter if you could show us your deck list.

For Hulk, assuming you play something like Carl's deck, Your going to want to run 2xPerncious Deeds main and cut Deep Analysis. After that, Hurkyl's Recall should be included in multiples for your side board. When in doubt, Hate it Out.

Hulk and Rector do not get along with wMUD at all. You may want to look into Dragon, which is currently the only match up wMUD seems to have noticable difficulty with IMO.

Rector is a near ottoloss vs. mud(ive played both decks) the only thing too do is toss some hurkyls in sb, used overload in sb(either or) and bump chain count too 2 in MD/in SBIn hulk I'd say use mox monkeys personaly- seeing as chalice is too good at 3 vs you(u cant tog/cunning wish for an answer) and they'll never play it for 1 if they're a good player(the goblkin welders too key) I'd use 1 naturalize in MD, maybe a monkey or two- and use overload SB

Yeah Rector is just 0-2 vs Mud. They drop turn 1 sphere, or Stacks or welder, or wire, and your screwed. You got to paris Hard and have tons of hate. Like Hurcklys, or such, and hope you drop lotus, mox, land, befor their turn.

I play Hulk too, and my SB cards against wMud is:
1x Hurkyl's Recall
2x P. Deed
3x Energy Flux
1x Artifact mutation

Artifact decks were the big hit in my meta but its going down so I might have to change my SB now.
The card you might look twise on when you look at at my SB is EnergyFlux and say huh? But when it hits the table you are in a good position. he cant use his workshops to pay the upkeep. I have tryed where he had lock down (wMUD) and I turned the game and won by playing my lotus and then playing a Energy Flux.

You don't play green in your hulk? So you don't use berserk? Or do you simply splash green for berserk?  I dunno but either way deed and artifact mutation is   against wMUD.  Artifact mutation will most likely be in the SB unless you face killer artifact decks all day.  But deed can be moved to the mainboard depending on your meta.  The problem with deed is probably going to be hard to cast since they have wasteland/tangle wire etc.  Imo with prison type decks you have to understand the "window of opportunity."  You usually only get one chance to break out of their lock and usually it's break out and win or get locked up and lose.  Sometimes you just have to be patient and wait for the right time to make the comeback move.  You just have to hold your land/moxen so you can drop them and cast deed on the same turn or try to get some mana off a drain.  You have to try and keep three U open instead of two because they might go for the wasteland and then spell play.  Also imo welder and sphere are the most deadly cards in  MUD.  Welder brings back everything else you countered and sphere always seems to make you one mana short from making a comeback.

Who are you talking to?

If you are talking to me? Im running Naturlize and Deed main deck.
And many Hulk dont play any green cards in main, its for the cards in your SB mostly.

Well, beating it with Hulk has been covered so I'll give tendrils a shot-

Your real chance lies in trying to combo off as fast as possible, since you know they run no counters, as well as trying to counter an artifact or two that will completely ruin your game (sphere tends to do this). I'm assuming your deck is rector based as it is B/U/W, and although Mud tends to hose long.dec pretty savagely, Rector-based is often an even worse choice to play vs. Mud. Good SB cards include seal of cleansing and the likes.
