A deck that i would really like to make and have work, but is it dead? Are there new decklists? Can Chalice help revive Void? or is the deck just dead?

Any thoughts

I don't think Chalice revives old school Void in any way.. if anything it puts it down for good. Both Nether Void and Chalice of the Void slow down games, and Chalice quite simply does it better.

In an environment full of workshop decks, like our local tournaments here have become, Void just isn't going to do well.  I have played Void, and like it, but for now I've shelved it until the environment shifts into something more favorable for it.

I guess so, now im rooting for Bazar and Workshop to get banned. That will slow down the Meta. YAY, and maybe i'll be able to play void. Its to cool not to have.

It has fallen into the state of a tier 2 metagame deck it seems. So long as Workshop isn't around, you'll be alright.

I diagree adamantly about the fate of Void.  Void is still an incredibly strong, and while I would be hard-pressed to give it a solid seat in tier one...it would probably be in the top of Tier Two.  Having said that, I believe Void can still win tournaments in which there is a large amount of Tier One decks (Stratford, Ontario...type one...drogo) of recent memory.

The problem with Void is that it isnt a "surprising" deck anymore.  Void used to be able to show up to a metagame and just crush the competition by sneaking under the "metagame" radar.  Sideboards wouldnt be construcuted to properly deal with it, and the disruption was unheard of, but alas, the environment has changed.

Take a look at a decklist that deviates only slightly from the original mono-black build, and splashes green (this deck was discussed in the Vintage forum a while back, and I still think it can be competitive it played correctly).  The thinking must be somewhere along the lines that Disk was simply to slow to compete with the drastic tempo increases for the Vintage metagame as of late.  The answer?  Add fetches and bayous to gurantee the green mana when you need it...use pernicious deed.  'Nuff said.

The second problem is that, a lot of Void players (me included) got lazy, because the deck could always just walk on peeps, and stopped the ardous playtesting that is required to remain competitive.  of course Long is going to crush you if you have no idea what the deck does...i echo the same sentiments for dragon.  and lastly (a bit of a side rant here), sideboard construction had been put to the wayside by the mentality that a masticore, some diabolic edicts, and ohhh secret tech by way of phyrexian furnace will pull through.  All void needs is a some legwork by those who enjoy playing it most...

Void is infact a really powerful deck, but it just cant compete with all Long, Workshop decks and Dragon decks running around.

And Chalice does kind of replace Nether Void but does a better job of it.

Void still rocks but it's too slow for the current metagame.

Not quite true. Long dies to Chalice = 0. If you fear Dragon maindeck and/or sideboard Withered Wretch. Dragon will have a hard time with your land destruction as well. Workshop decks is a hard matchup, though. But there are a number of ways to deal with this as well, such as Sengir Autocrat, Cursed Totem, Pernicious Deed, Withered Wretch, and perhaps access to red for artefact removal.
