UPDATE:
Allright. Price range is now $15-$20 (tentatively). If anyone has problems with this, speak up!
Also, when you post please specify if you don't mind sending overseas. If you've already posted, then just edit your opinion into your original post. ----------------------------------------------------------- This thread is a copy of one started in the community forum*The MASTER LIST of all entrants is posted on the above linkFor those of you who don't know what a secret santa is, here's the gist of it: You add your name to a list. Once it's on the list, you then wait until a set date. Then, once the set date comes about, all the names on the list are randomly paired up with each other. Then you get to buy a gift for that person (in this case, you can just give some magic cards). That being said, here are the rules: - Signup period is from Dec 1 2003 until Dec 5 2003. Pls post on this thread once stating name, and mailing address. Along with this, you can add stuff like favorite color, any commons/uncommons you might be collecting, other "hints" which might help your potential secret santa pick out a gift for you. E-mail should be added for contact with the unreggies (a thread will be started in the unreggie forum for this). 1 post per person pls!Give this some thought, signups end on Friday, so lots of time left. - The "gift" in question is just gonna be some Magic cards, or if you wanna be creative you can pick something else (like say for instance some of you in the NE US who know each other). All packages should be around $8-$14US range (this is just to be fair that someone who sends out $10 worth of stuff doesn't get a Loafing Giant in return). While it may seem a lot for a person, keep in mind you get stuff too . Also, pls refrain from sending someone $10 worth of crap rares. Send something "playable", or creative (whoever gets me as a secret santa is gonna get some pimped out mod cards that's for sure). - After signups have been done, there will be a 2-3 day "breather" period, to organize things. After that, another 2 days to notify people who their partner is, and then it's off the post office! If all things go well, this should be done by the 11th/12th of Dec, leaving (I hope) ample time for cards to arrive on/near Christmas, or at worst a couple of days after Christmas. I'm not sure what mail traffic is like right now, but if it's horrible someone let me know and I might cut the signup period by a couple of days to help ease this. - Any and all TMD participants are welcome! The more the merrier. Please keep in mind this is all in the spirit of Christmas, so don't bitch if you didn't get the stuff you "hinted" for. Also, this will be honor-based. If you don't plan on following through, don't sign up. I will ask on the 2nd to last day of signups if anyone needs to back down for whatever reason they may have (which is understandable, holidays can be kinda tight $$$ wise). Also, since this isn't relegated just to North America, please be understandable if your secret santa's package from Europe arrives after Christmas (and vice versa). Depending on the signups, I might section out the Secret Santa's, so that European TMD's would get other Europeans as SS's and North Americans would get other North Americans (this is solely for the fact that Christmas is busy with cards and gifts flying around in the mail, so this might speed things up a bit) but we'll see. We'll decide before signups conclude and notify everyone. - Speaking of which, I'm asking if anyone will help me with the randomly pairing up thing. I'll also probably need help PM'ng and e-mailing people. Hmm...that's all I can think of for now. I may add more later. Any questions pls PM me or e-mail: Magi_motl*@hotmail.com (remove the star) Thanks! And Happy Holidays everyone! \n\n

I'd rather not give out my address on the thread - I'll just PM it to Magimaster. I'm in Scotland though.
As for presents, I play Fish and I love Asian cards. Any and all good music CDs are also great.
I can send anywhere.\n\n

Will probably edit later. Well to be honest, I doubt there's a lot of worry to be caused by publicly posting your address on the net. If you're uncomfortable with it though, you can pm me your address. PM'ng your secret santa your address will not work for obvious reasons...

This sounds like fun...magic cards in the mail always tends to lessen the blow of finding just bills. James Haggarty 752 Glenview Dr. Apt 207 San Bruno Ca, 94066 I play pretty much everything so I'm an easy guy to shop for...except I have a pathological hatred for creature types that can be found in disney movies (gorilla shaman excluded). So please, no goats, cats, dogs, hippos (wtf?), rabbits, elephants, ect. Right now I am running wMUD, TnT, and other artifact variants. Mana Crpyt and P. Angel would be nice Magimaster, if its possible, see if you can pair me up with someone in the Bay Area. I wouldn't mind getting a chance to hopefully meet a new player in my area. Thanks

added a master list to help keep track
And remember folks, you don't have to get exactly what your reciever "hinted" for. Just make sure it's something they'll enjoy, or at the very least be able to trade off for something they'll enjoy.

Hints: Good blue stuff (mainly to finish one deck I need 3x illusions of granduer and an intuition. Another takes two factories and a psi blast........guess what deck that is ) or since they are pretty much worthless now, oath of druids. Doesnt really matter, dont worry, not a foil whore either. Whoever gets me will probably get some card that is a neccessity in combo decks. I will pm Magimaster with my info

I need sleeves pretty badly- preferrably Gunmetal- send these and you will get a generous gift, or don't and you will still get a generous gift . Well this sounds like some fun, force cards im hunting:Mishra's Factory, Wasteland, Vampiric Tutor...but mainly SLEEVES(Gunmetal or japanese would make me a very happy camper) This sounds like fun-good stuff, I bet I'll get some guy like Syptual, Crater Helion, or Robtheswordsman, who live 5 miles from me .

Sure, I'm in.
Bobby Norman 10701 Pinedale Road Knoxville, TN, 37922
I'm always in need of because I collect Panthers signed by people who don't suck, like fellow vintage players(so if you send them, please sign it first =P). Also, Wasteland and Meddling Mage, and Blue Duals are in need.
I think it would probably be simpler (and cheaper) to not do the overseas thing, but that's just me.

edit: I edited out my address.. Magimaster, are you going to be assigning a person to each "santa"? If so, when you assign someone to me, I'd appreciate it if you PM'd them my address, and I'm PMing it to you now.
if I get you, you're getting something cool and you can be sure of it. I would rather not send overseas

Rob Chaplan P. O. Box 125 Marstons Mills, MA 02648 USA
Well, anything interesting would be cool, but even one foil Dive Bomber would brighten my holiday season. Two would be damn fantastic, especially some foreign ones...
EDIT: The price jump is fine, as well as overseas shipping.

Any old good stuff is fine for me, Mana Crypt for example.
I would be willing to send cards in the $15-20 range, if everyone agrees with this I think this should be the proposed range for the whole interchange.

Nothing past Scourge, though, as I don't play with the new card face.

buuuump
(sorry to the mods about the constant upping, just helps me keep track)
Alright, about 30 people so far, not bad.
Couple of issues I think we should get out of the way first :
- Dividing the Secret Santa's by what side of the ocean you're on. Pros would be quicker sending and recieving, and less postage. Cons would be that there aren't that many people from Europe yet, so it would suck to leave those people out or just give them a limited pool of people to be randomly paired with.
- Upping the total package worth to $15-$20 (from $8-$14, all prices in US). I personally have no problem with this, but I could imagine that some people might. Please, people give in your input.
Just post here or in the thread in the basic forum.
Thanks. and keep 'em coming.

I'm up for it... hope I can get someone exactly what they want =). I'm comfortable switching to the $15-20 limit too.
Matthew Hatfield 3567 Creery Avenue West Vancouver, BC P.O. Box V7V 2M2 Canada
I'm tinkering as usual with janky mostly-unpowered Keeper, and also hoping to get together a budget Welder deck... getting an extra tundra, volcanic island or tolarian academy would be great, as would any number of spheres of resistance, metalworkers, ancient tombs, or city of traitors.

I'm on the list but here is my info
steve wellington 3405 cahuenga blvd west Los angeles, CA 90068 U.S.A.
Play keeper so pimped out keeper cards are cool (foil asian and stuff) and i'm a fan of the old stuff. so Beta/Alpha lands, Playable Beta/Alpha commons, Any Beta/Alpha Rares, AN and AQ unCommens are fun too. of and could use FBB Dual lands
Be fun after this to see what everone gets. Kind of have a bragging forum. People will try to out do everyone and send the coolest gift.
of and 15-20 sounds fine with me. gets it into the FBB dual Land, sinkhole, price range....

I am definitely down with this. I think this sounds like something really fun to do because getting cards in the mail is better than bills and junk. I'll PM my info. I like pretty much anything except foils. I am an Alpha whore so anything like that is cool. I also don't mind sending overseas.

Maybe we should move the Cutoff to sunday, because some members can only access the internet on weekends, and it would also give more time to decide on the price range and Us/Euro shipping details.
