My friend loves reanimator, hes a timmy at heart and he wuvs his fatty critters.  I helped him construct his reanimator deck in T1 format and I have been playing him a LOT, I don't claim to be an amazing player, and maybe I am just overlooking the obvious, but the reanimator deck takes alot of my decks to town.  Iso-control is usually a scoop for him, as is Keeper, Parfait, and Dragon, but STAX, wMUD, Sligh, Chalice Black, Gay U/r Fish, TnT have just gotten run over time after time.  Every single reanimation target he has becomes a must counter situation, or hope for the best otherwise.  So the question is, can reanimator be a valid (though not Tier 1) contender in the current metagame?

What i am really looking to do here is get two things, feedback on how to imrpove the deck (which is an important thing to do) and explanantions/discussion of why reanimator can or cant compete in a real metagame (though i dont expect it to be tier 1).

I think since you have buried alives that fetch critters directly from the Library, you may not want a Volrath.

I also see no reason why you have Green in there. It seems its in there for critters, but then if you follow the same reasoning, why not White for Reya then? If you cut green, you can stabilise mana base, and free up slots for other fat or tempo boosters

Try to see if you can fit in Duress. Classic disruption to clear the way for a reanimate spell, which can be achieved by cutting green and going for the B/R

This is THE premier reanimator card. Once it's in play, it's here to stay.

Also, I can't understand for the life of me why you're running Doomed Necromancer over Reanimate.

Put target creature from a graveyard into play under your control. You lose life equal to it's casting cost.

Simply put, the life doesn't matter. You lose 9 life from Akroma? They're dead in 3 more turns.

Lastly, why is Silver Seraph in there? It offers nothing to the deck.

Why not to make this better and throw in those duresses and other disruption,
so keeper and other random control variants wouldnt be auto-losses?

About the creature base, how many times do you really have to animate a d00d ? 1-2 ?
and you got friggin 10 d00ds for it ?
just cut the half of the doods and up the protection.
my suggestion for the creature base:
2 verdants
1 slagwurm
1 symbiotic wurm
1 phantom nishoba

why not just play a Count Chocula version using hermet druid to dump stuff into your grave yard

the base is something like:

4 hermit druid
1 sutured goul
2 korsen cloudscraper/or a couple more usefull beatsticks
1 dragon breath  
+ other animator stuff

i donno how the builds were right before the extended bannings though mabye check out the extended forums

i personaly liked playing this form of reanimator
