Hey I've been following the Parfait post and i am unable to reply to it so i was wondering people's opinion on my build. My Meta, for the most part, consists of 1 fully powered Stax, Keeper, and some semi-powered Long, lots of Sligh, and Mono-Blue Control. Also there is Oath, various rogue decks, a fair amout of sui, and Fish(both variants). My build reflects this. Hopfully i can help/get help from the community. Keep in mind that I have no power please. Thanks.

Parfait

Mana:
14 Plains
1 Strip Mine
2 Chrome Mox
1 Lotus Petal
1 Sol Ring

Engine:
4 Land Tax
3 Scroll Rack

Kill:
2 Goblin Charbelcher

Hate:
2 Zuran Orb
1 Tormod's Crypt
1 Ivory Mask
1 Moat
1 Story Circle
1 Humility
1 Jester's Cap
2 Aura of Silence
1 Second Sunrise
1 Balance

Scepter Abuse:
3 Isochron Scepter
4 Orim's Chant
3 Abayance
4 Swords to Plowshares
3 Argiviain Find
2 Disenchant
1 Enlightened Tutor

Board:
2 Tormod's Crypt
2 Phyrexian Furnace
2 Rule of Law
2 Karma
2 Sphere of Resistance
3 CoP: Red
2 Phyrexian Processor

Some of my weirder choices that arn't related to my metagame are main deck Cap, Second Sunrise, and Crypt.
The Cap is played because it is broken when Argivian Find is imprinted on Isochron Scepter. The Crypt is in the deck because it helps so many matchs, be it crappy Reanimator, Oath, Long, any deck with Ak's, etc. Second Sunrise I play because it is useful in many senarios, least of which is....

Tap out, sac all my land to Zuran Orb, Balance, Crypt you, Cast Second Sunrise.

I know this won't happen everygame, but i have never found it to be a dead card. It even can act as a mana acellerant.

Some cards that I mean to test are Honourable Passage and Disempower. I've done quite well with my version lately, though I have only gotten to play Stax once, I did win quite easily after boarding in my Stax tech..... Phyrexian Furnace

Well thanks for hearing me. Hope to hear soome feedback. Thanks
Joe

I don't know much about the deck, but I've always heard that having 4 scroll/3 tax is the way to go. Nobody counters the Land Tax, so having that resolve isn't a problem. But if they stop the Scroll, you lose your engine. Having another must counter is pretty effective.

That's the extent of my Parfait knowledge, sorry.

actually, from my experience thus-far with this deck, My land Tax is quite often countered. The deck has a low mana source count, and more often then not my opponent will counter my Tax out of hope to leave me in a mana-screw. Maybe thats just something that people do around here though. Could someone else give me an opinion?

I have  been playing parfait at some of my local touranments and I usually find that having 3 Abeyance and 4 Chant's is a little too much. Long will dead in a month and Parfait can really use the extra slots. (also Chrome mox is now restricted)

You could add:
1 Mountain (red mana for blood moon)
1 Plateau (nice w/ Charbelcher)
1 Scroll rack (it helps to get you going)
1 Isochron Scepter (just in case 1 gets countered)
1 Tithe (can be abused by scepter)
2 Blood moon (this is a great card)

and remove:
2 Abeyance
1 Chrome mox
2 Plains
1 Second Sunrise or if really want to keep it don't add Tithe
1 Ivory Mask

A build like this will give a great answer to most multicolor decks in the form of Blood Moon and a little more consistancy by adding more racks and scpeters. (if you miss the chrome mox you could add a mox diamond also)
I hope I helped a little, keep parfait going

You still need ivory mask to stave off storm-based kills, cripple any diabolic edict / sligh burn, and lots of things. Ivory mask is a silver bullet for real if played right

I suggest that you add Blood Moon. In light of restrictions, it will start pwning. To get mana for the bloodmoon, try adding in 2 mountains (1 for belch, other for fetching)

also, running orims and abeyance is redudnant. I prefer orims because its alot more powerful, even w/out the cantrip effect.

When I origionally play tested, i used 4 Scepters, and i found it to be too many. Also I like the idea of playing blood moon, i just havn't gotten around to fixing my deck yet, but all tthe same I would not keep a land in the deck. I can see myself losing at least one game because of it.

Tithe is another great card, but when i tested the deck, i always found myself imprinting something else. I'll try it some more though.

Another thing is: the addition rack, i just can't play it. Once again i always found myself wishing it was something else.

I think i'm going to replace the Chrome with a Diamond, Get 2 blood moons and play 2-3 Mountains. I'll cut one Abayance, 2 plains. That should be my changes for now. Thanks for the feedback.

Ahhh....finally my acount has been activated....

Okay, now on to the relevant stuff.

I've been playing around with parfait for a while, both black and red splashes. So far I've had better luck with red.

Here is my current decklist (I'll explain card choices at the end).

4   land tax
3   scroll rack
2   zuran orb

1   enlightened tutor
2   Gamble

4   Isochron scepter
4   orim's chant
2   humility
1   story circle

1   Powder Keg
3   Swords to Plowshares
2   Aura of silence
1   abolish
1   Balance
4   Fire/Ice

2   Argivian Find
2   Tithe

2   Goblin Belcher

1   Sol ring
1   Mox Diamond
1   Lotus Petal
1 Strip Mine
3 Wasteland
3   Plateau
2   Mountian
7   Plains

SideBoard:
4 Red elemental blasts
1 Swords to Plowshares
1 Wrath of God
2 Rack & Ruin
2 Disenchant
3 Bloodmoon
1 Ivory mask
1 Abeyance

Some reasons for perhaps controversial choices:

Fire/Ice - amazing for vs weenie decks, or if you've got a humility out and want some crowd control. Put this on a scepter and you've got another draw engine, removal, and basic utility.

Gamble - With only the enlightened tutor I've always wanted to be able to search more at times. With land tax, tithe, and argivian find usually I can keep the card I get - or bring it back. It also serves to reset scroll rack.

Tithe - gets me a plateau if I need it, reshuffles to re-set scroll rack, and can get me loads of land if on a stick - though I have rarely done this.

Abolish - free disenchant with land tax. Situational, but very useful at times.

Powder Keg - overall removal. With black I had vindicate, and when I switched to red I noticed a loss in broad control components - the powder keg fills that spot. Recurrable with the argivian find.

Arigivian Find - a lot of people don't run this anymore, but against control it can be a house. Okay, you countered my humility, but can you do it again?

Goblin Belcher - well, there really is no reason not to use this as the kill in cherry parfait - it is fast and so powerful. Even without land tax this can reek havoc. If you've got the upper hand you can use scroll rack and put non-land cards on your library, giving you a guaranteed minimum damage. And the belcher automatically resets the scroll rack.

I love this deck...it's soooo fun to play. Any comments would be welcome.

hey i liek your list, but I'm not sure if i like the mana base. This isn't from a consistancy issuse, simply due to the Charbelcher. Gamble is also a cool card, but not always useful. I guess u just keep your hand up on size with land to negate the effect?

Why don't you play disenchant? I know that the free effect on abolish is quite good, but disenchant fits scepter. Definately a plus.

Whst do you guys think of Disempower?

I've thought about the disenchants - but in my meta it isn't worth it against most of the decks to put disenchant on a stick - fire/ice, StP, orim's are all better in most cases. There are 2 Disenchants in the Sideboard for that purpose though. On the Disempower - against some artifact decks that could be pretty awesome - a constant time walk, but I'd rather have orim's usually.

The 4 strip effects, which can slow doen the Belcher as you pointed out, can help a lot vs some decks that rely on their nonbasics a lot - I'm still playing with the number of strips. The plateau's and mountians really help speed up the kill - and I can always use my rack to set up a mountian - 5 cards + mountian = ten damage. It takes two turns, but who cares? I've got a lock anyways...

Gamble is situational - but amazing if you have land tax and not much else. With seven to ten cards in hand the chance of keeping the right card is pretty high. Argivian can get most of my important cards back anyways.

with long going to be dead after Jan, you NEED Blood moon. Its one of the best silver bullets against new combo and other powerful decks, like Keeper, The Shining, TPS, other Stormers (my term for storm decks), etc... etc.... helps against Void too.

It may have been suggested already, but if you're running Scepter, I would most definately run Tithe!
