So I'm hanging out in Fort Lauderdale, FL after a few hours of work and numerous hours on the beach.  Since I've had little to no exposure to magic, I'm trying not to think of the poor bastards of Team Hadley who've been putting up with snow storms and below 0 temps in western MA.

I'm out picking up a few necessities (Heineken) on the company card when I see a local comic store and decide to check it out.  Low and behold they have a full set of power not to mention a number of other good OOPs.  The moxen are all about EX+/NM-, and they're priced at $190.

All I really need is the ruby and the jet, but since sapphires trade easy and high, I decide to try for all three.  I get the clerk's attention and ask him, "how about a group rate on these three for $550?"

He looks nervous, and although I explain to him its a $20 break before taxes, he calls over an older manager type guy.  The manager sees I'm trying to haggle, and says "they'll only go for $160 a piece if you buy all five, otherwise its $170".  I love being underbid by the house.  I'm about to take the three pieces at $510, but take another look at the pearl and emerald, and take the whole set at $800.

Obviously this isn't the best deal in magic, but it just proves that since T1 is still such a niche format, there are plenty of deals to be had.  It also goes to show that , in spite of me being a complete punk, I'm still one of the luckiest players in Vintage.

j/k, sweet find :p All the deals to be had are in the southern states...up in the norther corners of USA and lower corners of Canada people play here a lot so nothing like that would ever happen here. Maybe I should make that trip to new mexico I've always wanted to do...
