Welcome to Playordraw.com. OMG it is shit. I liked the article though. Glad to have someone go over this kind of stuff. I can't believe Stacker and Madness put up so many T8 performances though. Yay. ^_^

It's too bad they got you writing for them. That site is just... so bad. Anyway, as usual good write up, Dr. Sylvan. Keep it up no matter how bad the site you write for is.

Hopefully there are real bombs on the way soon. My question to you is, do you think we have yet to see the good white stuff, or is it already here and no one's bothering to try it because it's white?

We have some. Just not many. I think we're out of 2001 dogmatic "rejection of new ideas because they're not Keeper". Witness the rise of green: they print good stuff, we get around to abusing it. The closest thing right now are the classic popular-but-not-often-awesome metagame decks: Enchantress and Parfait. I've been working on Enchantress a lot lately, but it was just impossible to abuse Decree of Justice over Sacred Mesa. I've tried to abuse the bomby Humility, but it contradicts the deck. I think the worst problem is that green has too much of the good enchantment stuff. And we can count on the best enchantment mechanic staying in green, because they gave Enchantress's Presence to green just a year ago. It's a pretty clear design imbalance and leads me to my statement, "Hopefully there are real bombs on the way soon." Until then I'll keep running Enchantress into a counterwall and seeing if there are better cards available.
I'll probably doing a detailed "what white's missing that other colors aren't" at some point soon.

I'll probably doing a detailed "what white's missing that other colors aren't" at some point soon. Card advantage and disruption. Also acceleration/tempo breakers.

Yeah, those are pretty much it. Hopefully I can think of a way to back that up with numbers. I doubt that I'll fail in such a quest for numeric evidence. :)

When will people realize that Mana Crypt is BETTER than any off color Mox or even Sol Ring in artifact decks? Evidence this has not occurred: 22 Mox Pearl and 12 Mana Crypt.
This brings me back to a game I played against a total 'tard at Darksteel Prerelease in Boston who REFUSED to consider Mana Crypt for his wMUD deck. He insisted that Mox Pearl was better and his list was too tight to add in Mana Crypt. Um...yes...WHATEVER DUMBASS!
It is mind boggling how we get stuck in these thought traps. I am beginning to think that Mana Drain in GAT is another one of these traps. I need some more time to see if this is true.
One other Mental Trap:
Rishidan Port stinks in Vintage: With Workshop and Bazaar the center of many decks I am not sure if this logic will stand too long.
Oh yes, and as usual, excellent article very good. I would like more writing too. Philip your an excellent writer, show them that you are. I think they will be willing to let you talk without numbers for a while. Your smart enough to do so, especially given the other stuff posted on this site and around the web.
Oh yes, the thing that white is missing is simple: GOOD CARDS.

Oh yes, the thing that white is missing is simple: GOOD CARDS. See, this is exactly why your "all that matters is winning" arguments are ridiculous. What you say is true, but somehow ( ) completely fails to help in any way. Luckily we have Jacob to answer such questions.

Philip, I really gotta give you props on these articles. I think they've been the most informative, unbiased, untouted, and all in all best articles on Type1 in the last year. I really hope you keep it up.

One other Mental Trap:
Rishidan Port stinks in Vintage: With Workshop and Bazaar the center of many decks I am not sure if this logic will stand too long. One other other mental trap: Spelling the names of the cards correctly. The Bazaar deck doesn't care if you Port them, they'll Bazaar in response. Madness still happens, and Dragons still hit the yard. Why would you run Rishadan Port over Dust Bowl, assuming you want more than 4 Wastelands and a Strip Mine?

The Bazaar deck doesn't care if you Port them, they'll Bazaar in response. But you can port in response to Squee coming back from the graveyard. Bazaaring in response isn't too great there. And Dust Bowl only works in control decks, whereas Port can fit in some disruptive aggro builds.

But you can port in response to Squee coming back from the graveyard. Bazaaring in response isn't too great there. OK, you situationally set one function back a turn. Wouldn't Wasting or Dustbowling be better? Minor correct in the article, the "Memory Leaks" were Mana Leaks, not Memory Lapses. Memory Lapse is amusing on a Scepter, though. "Care to try that again?" Nice work on the article.

Ah, okay. I knew it was one of the two, and just went with the logic that someone typing "Memory" may have subbed in "Leak" more easily than erroring in the first word and being correct in the second. Anyway, duly noted. Thanks for the feedback.
