At that price, you probably could just buy a diamond for cheaper... In fact, they might very well do that themselves.

Also, keep in mind that diamond prices are bound to drop substantially, since the monopoly could be destroyed at any time, and since artificially grown diamonds of better quality than natural ones will probably appear in a few years.
