I think I should probably start this post with a bit of background on myself. First and foremost, I'm a girl. Now, normally, I don't think this sort of thing defines me as a person, but it certainly affects me as a player. In many of the games I play, I get attitude from people that ranges from balantant staring at my chest to asking me if I "need the pretty cards read to me." Frankly, it's obnoxious and rude. However, I'll save the rant for another day. What I really need help with is this deck... my first attempt at anything remotely competitive. It's been playtested in a casual environment mostly, but hasn't been doing well. Oddly enough, I don't know whether it's the deck, or the fact that I'm relatively inexperienced. The environment it was tested in ran mostly stompy, some sligh, and an occaisional bastardized keeper. There's little to no Power, though plenty of duals. As for my budget... nearly endless. I was preparing to buy my power anyhow.
So, on to the deck...

Parfait?

4x Land Tax
3x Scroll Rack
2x Zuran Orb
1x Sylvan Library

2x Sacred Mesa
1x Jester's Cap
1x Tormod's Crypt
1x Balance

1x Mox Diamond
1x Sol Ring
1x Lotus Petal

1x Repenish
4x Argivian Find
4x Sterling Grove
1x Enlightened Tutor

11x Plains
5x Forest
2x Savannah
1x Strip Mine
1x Serra's Sanctum

2x Seal of Cleansing
2x Swords to Plowshares
2x Aura of Silence
2x Orim's Chant
2x Abeyance
2x Abolish

60 cards, no sideboard yet.

What do you all think? Suggestions are much appreciated, and will be met with much pleased cooing. (If that doesn't prove that I'm a she, nothing will.) Nothing in this universe bothers supposedly seasoned players more than "Are you done, dearie?"

luv, Navi~!

Hallo!
it is always good to see female magic players (especially those worth looking at- J/K).
with your unlimited budget, you may not want to run Parfait. Parfait is only used when you have little to no ability to buy powercards/dual and when your entire metagame is scrubby aggro. you do have a basicly aggo metagame, but you have a better budget. you should buil the standard white/back/green enchantress deck if you plan on purchasing a mox jet, pearl, emerald and lotus (as well as duals to accompany them). here is a basic skeleton to work with, but the rest has to be talored for the decks you face

1x Moat/Humility
1x Earthcraft
4x Squirrels nest
1x Demonic tutor
1x Vampiric Tutor
1x Balance
1x Enlightened tutor
1x Sacred mesa
1x words of wilding
1x Mirari's wake
1x Ground Seal
2x Seal of cleansing
2x Sylvan library
2x Abundance
4x Duress
4x Argothian enchantress
1x Yavimaya Enchantress
3x Exploration
1x Fastbond
3x Sterling Grove
1x City of solitude

these are just possible maindeck suggestions, not all of these will make it into the maindeck. make sure you use 5 enchantresses, as you have to draw one no matter what.

good luck with whatever you decide to use. if you decide to continue with Parfait, I have a White splahs red version that was very successful in my metagame for over 9 months, however dated it is. PM me for that list

First off, I am no expert on Parfait and I leave picking a deck to play up to you entirely.

I wonder though why splash green for so little gain. Swapping and selecting cards, plus card advantage can already be done with Land Tax/Scroll Rack. Using Sterling Grove seems a bit over the top since you already have Archivian Find and it would open 4 slots to leave it out.

Another question I have is, what are your problems? You mention it is not working as good as you would like. Judging form an aggro environment and your list I would say you'd probably get overrun. But it will not help to give advice an the basis of assumptions. So could you explain more about the difficulties you have?

I agree, I'm not sure off the G addition.

I'm playing a WB Parfait, still doing some tweaking.

Think about switching out the Sacred Mesa for Goblin Charbelcher's.

My current build:

9 plains
1 swamp
1 mountain
1 bloodstained mire
1 serra's sanctum
2 scrubland
1 black lotus
1 mox diamond (probably will switch to a plateau)
1 mox jet
1 mox pearl
1 mox ruby
1 library of alexandria
1 sol ring

1 claws of gix
1 zuran orb
1 mind twist
4 cabal therapy
3 land tax
1 enlightened tutor
2 argivian find
3 swords to plowshares
4 orim's chant
3 isochron scepter
3 scroll rack
1 seal of cleansing
1 balance
1 demonic tutor
3 academy rector
2 goblin charbelcher
1 moat
1 ivory mask
1 humility
1 yawgmoth's bargain

This is still an early version but has been working well in my limited experience with it.  I have been lucky in getting the chant on a stick many times. Just remember, you can pay 2W (W for the kicker) to also prevent them from attacking.

I agree with some of the earlier posts regarding the green splash.  It seems to me that if you want to build this deck as G/W, then Enchantress might be a better option.  Blood Moon remains such a great bomb in today's field that if I were to go Parfait, Cherry Parfait would be it.  I assume that the lack of power in your meta means combo is limited as well so Cherry Parfait seems like a decent pick.  Here's Crater Hellion's list from another thread for reference:

Quote

Crater Hellion's Cherry Parfait

Disruption
3 Chalice of the Void
3 Swords to Plowshares
3 Abeyance
2 Orim's Chant
2 Powder Keg
2 Disenchant
1 Blood Moon
1 Humility
1 Balance
1 Tormod's Crypt

Utility
4 Scroll Rack
3 Land Tax
2 Tithe
3 Isochron Scepter
1 Goblin Charbelcher
1 Raise the Alarm
1 Eternal Dragon
2 Argivian Find
1 Zuran Orb
1 Enlightened Tutor

Mana
1 Chrome Mox or Mox Diamond
1 Sol Ring
1 Lotus Petal
2 Mountain
4 Wasteland
1 Strip Mine
14 Plains

Sideboard
2 Tormod's Crypt
3 Ivory Tower
1 Disenchant
1 Swords to Plowshares
3 Red Elemental Blast
2 Story Circle
2 Blood Moon
1 Orim's Chant

This deck can be viewed as the budget player’s keeper deck. While keeper has more utility spells at its disposal, this deck attempts to compensate for the drop off in utility and in power with a more consistent mana base. The play style however remains largely unchanged. One card that is notably absent from the sideboard though it undoubtedly deserves multiple slots is Rack and Ruin.

With all the Damping Matrix running around here in the Northeast, I'm not sure Scepters are the way to go but that might not be the case where you are. [/quote]

Thank you all muchly. So, to clarify... First of all, I'm playing this deck while I raise the cash to buy Power, I joke that it's my "training wheels". I'm not entirely pleased about adding Goblin Charbelchers as a kill instead of the Mesas, mainly because I feel that it takes away from the synergy of the deck.  I haven't tried tournament play at all yet, so I haven't got a frame of reference in that sense. Although, it tends to own against the decks that people actually play at local tournaments. I still get mooshed by aggro though.

Honestly, I think I play this deck too conservatively. I hold back to the point where I'm being pathetic. I did change this, however, and it did a lot better against every deck that my brother, boyfriend, and two friends threw at me. Here's the decklist, revised.

Here we go...

11x Plains
3x Forest
2x Savannah
1x Serra's Sanctum
1x Strip Mine

1x Sol Ring
1x Lotus Petal
1x Mox Diamond
3x Scroll Rack
2x Zuran Orb
1x Tormod's Crypt
1x Jester's Cap

4x Argivian Find
2x Swords to Plowshares
2x Abolish
2x Orim's Chant
1x Enlightened Tutor
1x Abeyance

1x Replenish
1x Balance

4x Land Tax
2x Aura of Silence
1x Sylvan Library
1x City of Solitude
4x Sterling Grove
2x Seal of Cleansing
2x Sacred Mesa
1x Ivory Mask
2x Humility
1x Moat

See what you think of the changes. I know I'm being stubborn about keeping the green, but I've been getting flack for being unoriginal or a snob about my cards. (Mainly because of the large amount of foils and foriegn cards in the deck.) I'm getting sick of telling people that "no, I didn't just copy it off the net." I might build a seperate Enchantress deck, but it will have to wait becuase I have become obsessed with Fruity Pebbles also, and my unlimited budget does need time to replenish itself.
Thanks again!!

To begin, I'd like to note that it's retarded to judge a person's playing skill based on their gender, height, age, or how faded their Tool shirt is. Many adults playing in tournaments I've won gave me the "thanks for the bye" look before I handed their ass to them on a sliver platter, and I honestly believe that's because I'm fifteen and I dress up for tournaments. Oh, and because I use play of the hardest to use and most retarded decks in Type 1 magic, Parfait.

You've made a few huge oversights in your parfait deck. One is your color splash. One of parfait's hugest assets in an enviornment dominated by duals is its stable, hard-to-disrupt mana base. For reference, here's my Parfait mana base:

13 Plains
4 Land Tax
4 Tithe
1 Black Lotus
1 Lotus Petal
1 Mox Pearl
1 Sol Ring

If you've been playing Parfait for awhile, you're probably thinking that 4x land tax and tithe is redundant. You'd be right a year ago, back when Parfait decks had to win with an antiquated and sub-par win condition, namely Sacred Mesa. However, as it's been noted, newer and better Parfait decks are using the excellent Goblin Charbelcher. Why is charbelcher better? Here are a few good reasons:

1) Dropping it early lets you smash at aggro creatures. Re-usable damage is golden in Parfait.
2) Late in the game, dropping it an activating it in the same turn is a sure win.
3) No questions asked, no attacking, no pegasus tokens. Just damage.

However, I'd like to point out that there are a number of cons to this plan, namely Serra's Sanctum, Library of Alexandria, Strip Mine, and friends. However, the way I see it, Charbelcher is -so much better- than sacred mesa that the cons are trivial. I've won more games with charbelcher since it came out than I ever did with parfait before its existance, and cosidering I play parfait often that's significant.

Mirrodin gave us another wonderful goodie that we can abuse to a great extent in Parfait - Isochron Scepter. How corny?? Everyone is using that card! Right, so if your metagame hates it out, forget it - but if you can get by with it, try it! Chant on a Stick is a dead lock in many games and when it's not, it's a great tool to use against Control. When the control deck has to hard-counter each spell you play twice, his counter wall will crumble. Other targets for scepter include Argivian Find (of which I run 4 in my deck), Swords, Abeyance (I have 4 in sideboard), Disenchant, Tithe, and many others.

I wish you plenty of luck with your parfait deck! If you want to see my complete build, you can look here:

i never really got the idea behind parfait
it seems to me that the general idea is to hide behind humility, moats and to kill using sacred mesa
that works in enchantress too, doesn't it?

i used to play with a scrubby bastardised version of enchantress relying on sacred mesa or squirrelcraft for the kill
lockdown with solitary confinement (argothians, e. presences) and sterling groves, worship/argothians
for a scrubby aggro meta this deck is god

Disclaimer- I've never played with a parfait deck.  My friend and I are putting one together for him though, and my question is, WHERE ARE THE SCEPTERS?   Very Happy   It seems like a perfect addition.  Playing an artifact deck? stick a disenchant on one.  Creatures- swords.  Maybe even an early orim's chant for the lock.  Is this out of place for a deck like this?   Also, from one who is going to be adding a lot of white to his blue deck, i'm paranoid about fast fat from TnT, Big O, or Madness.  Would humility help in these type of situations?
