Hello, I am a Chicago type one player whose employment has unfortunately taken up my weekends for the last six months or so.
I am hoping there is still a Type 1 tounie somewhere in the Chicagoland area this Sunday. (Feb. 29th)
I played a few times out in that suburb by Brookfield (possibly Brookfield), do you still play there?

Thank you for yout help getting me back.

There is a tournment in Downtown Downers Grove at Brain Snacks bookstore http://www.brnsncks.com on Sunday.  They are usually pretty small but are getting better.

The tourney Rgbeatskeeper is talking is not worth the 2 hour trip from the milwaukee area. They have about 12 people with pretty bad prizes especially since the place doesn't have magic singles just packs and other gaming stuff. Currently we are trying to get people organized to go to the gaming depot on sundays again. Once we know we are having a tourney there again I'll post a Tournament Announcement. BTW Crazy Con 3 is coming up in May but I'll post more info on that when it becomes availible.

It seems Chicago has some players scattered about but the organization that was present that led to the Brookfield T1 scene is no longer there. Many of the 'old' crew seem disinterested. I can't say I am not part of the problem: I don't like playing at the 2 up and coming (hopefully) spots in Downers Grove because I don't find it competitive. I should go though to foster development.

Instead, I have been traveling to find good Type1. This week it is Kalamazoo, MI, 2 hours away. Shoot me a PM if you might want to join in such trips in the future: some of the Chicago players do some traveling a few times a month.

It seems like there are a number of competitive players in the Chicago area looking to play magic (or play magic again).  Although I used to be a regular, I cannot really find the time to do more there stop by occasionally.  However, if we all decided to get together sometime, I'm sure we can get something competitive going again in the Chicago area with the proper planning here.

As it turns out some of the guys who came back already want to get their Type 1 whistles wet. We are planning to have a Type this sunday at the Gaming Depot. I'll post a full tournament announcement later today when i get the rest of the info on it.

We are planning to have a Type this sunday at the Gaming Depot.

So how many people were there this weekend.  Also, how many people are going to Downer's Grove on March 21.  For those unaware, more information about the tournament is at http://www.topdeckcards.com/events.asp.

We had an 8-man tourney of 4 rounds of swiss. RJ won with his version of Tendrils and Alan got 2nd with TnT. As far as top deck, Rgbeatskeeper(bob) and I will be there for sure. I'll see if the other guys can make it.

Hey, I took second because of tie breakers. I think we can get something going again at depot. I know a few other people are getting back into type 1. Hopefully people stop going to the scrub tournys and come to depot for some real type 1.

I traded the owner my Time Twister and he has some other power. He is thinking of holding monthly power tournys. I will keep you all informed.

Poor Specter and RG, they couldn't handle the TnT.

I think we could do something one week from this sunday at the depot. I'm sure Ron would be cool with that. But what would you guys like, proxys or no proxys? Sanctioned or un-sanctioned? What should the entry fee be? How should it determine prize? Like if we get alot of and have the fee be like 10-15 bucks, we can have a prize worth coming for, you know? So who would be in on this so I can gather more info?

Next Sunday the 14th should be good with most people. The tourney should definitely be at least 5 proxies. $5-10 entry fee for regular tournies and $15 for power should be alright with everyone. We'll probably hold the power tourney in a few weeks depending on the power the owner wants to put up as prize.

One week from this sunday there will be a type one prize is based off the amount of people we can get,  if we get a good turn out we will try and do a turney every other sunday or saterday which ever day is more convenient for everyone. For more info IM me on AIM or post a reply. thanks!

I thought maybe this tread should be moved to the :Type 1 Tournament Forum: so that some non noobs will see it, just a thought let me know is I'm out of  line.
