I figure I might as well be an active part of the community I love and report on the standings of my play-life (read: Listen while I bore you all to the point of tears). The following is the first (assuming there will be more than one) tournament report I've done, so correct me if I suck at it Very Happy .

Location: Hell...aka Cape Cod, The Gathering in Centerville and the best place I've been to in East Massachusetts topping (IMO) TJ's.

The event. Some crappy tournament. I'll explain:

It was Saturday in sunny Orleans and I had plans to do something with someone, but the who and what were to be somewhat random. So I waited all day with my cell on hand for someone to call and say something like, "Hey dude come on and hang out at (insert cool place to loiter here) with (insert cool people I know here)!"
Of course this time, no one loves me so I decided to make myself useless...ahem useful.....and go to The Gathering. When I got into the door, cards and binder in hand I was expecting to do a little trading and casual gaming with the regulars that, like me, have no life Wink. Richard (Sytupal) had a different idea. Within the first three minutes and before I had made it to the counter, which was about seven steps away, at least ten people walked up to me and said stuff like, "Yo, tiki-man. Dude, type one tourney, now!" or "Five bucks..we need two more people."
Of course none of them were able to convince me to do such nonesense as to waste five dollars on a few games of magic I woud surely lose because the decks I had together were grade A c-r-a-p...
Sytupal convinced me, however, saying that I had nothing to lose and other convincing stuff like that (yes, I am easily convinced). So into the roster I went and was set to prepare my deck, which needed work.

I'll post my decklist below so viewers can see that I had absolutely no chance Cool. First I'll go over what I had to do within the five minutes I had to prepare this deck. The tourney was a 5 proxy with minute cash prize. The proxies in the deck I had on hand were 1 Mana Drain, 1 Decree of Justice, 1 Sapphire, 1 Pearl, 1 Lotus, and !?4 Tundra!? (don't ask).
I obviously had to go down a few. I took out the Lotus knowing that the one turn mana would not help in my deck anyway. I was able to borrow the Decree from the store's cardpool or whatever the thing is. The Mana Drain, Sytupal, whom I envy with great wrath and all that groovy stuff, let me borrow one of the FOUR he had Evil or Very Mad.  Then I went down one on the tundra, knowing that it would be safer to play more basics in the strip heavy meta this place has.

Tiki's Crap-keeper:

Mana/Land:
5 Fetch
5 Strip
1 Lotus Petal
1 Sol Ring
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Pearl
3 Tundra
7 Island
2 Plains

Wight Hotness:
4 Swords to Plowshares
1 Balance

C'ntrole:
4 Force of Will
4 Counterspell
2 Pimpin' Mana Drain
2 Stifle
3 Pimpin' Meddling Mage

Draw/Toot:
4 "Ofidio" Ophidian
4 Brainstorm
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Fact or Fiction

My Opponent Scoops:
2 Iridescent Angel
2 Decree of Justice

SB: I didn't have one, since I wasn't planning on doing this. So Sytupal hooked me up with his binder.
3 Aura of Silence
1 Energy Flux
1 Null Rod
1 Disenchant
3 Tormod's Crypt
2 Cursed Totem
2 Damping Matrix
2 Hurkyl's Recall
(I know it sucks, it's all we had combined Sad. Please send money........)

OKaysie so here go he matchups:

Match 1: Mat C. (I don't get it....one "t"?)
TnT

Let me start by noting that I've never had to deal with a good TnT deck, let alone a good Welder player. Not only was I beat to a pulp quickly and efficiently, but he knew what he was doing. Game one I was hit with a bad hand and thought I could make do with it. Game two I sided almost everything in for my useless phids. I ended up keeping both Slaver and Welder from doing anything, but Trisks hit hard to the dome ending me in no time. I was beat 0-2 him...not fun.

0-1: Crying or Very sad  Whatever, I wasn't prepared...

Match 2: Hugh
Type 2 Pest Anthem, they made him play too.

This is going to sound silly, but I actually lost first round to type two. Oh now I feel like a loser. But anyway, after siding in, Null Rod and/or Energy Flux came out and crippled him. Once I played a Meddling Mage choosing Echoing Truth (Decree goes down from it), and a nice fat Angel, he was having fun dying. Magic is fun again Razz

1-1:  Surprised  Whatever, T1 is always prepared for T2 crap...

Match 3: A regular I talk to all the time who's name I never knew, help me out guys.
Trin

I hate Trinisphere. I'm planning on writing in to the R&D team and yelling at them for making me play my MM's for three! Well anyway. Game one, Trin, Meddling Mage against Karn, who never hits the table. Stax hits and we have fun killing things. I counter a blood moon Very Happy. Welder hits the fields. I ping with Ofidio until I draw into a nice DoJ letting me win the Stax battle. Then I slap him with a juicy Angel. Game two happens a little faster. Trin (why even counter tier one crap?), Mage against Karn, then fourth turn, Mana Drain a nice Stax. Angel comes out with wrath turn five. Force of Will rocks under Trin!

2-1: Wooooo... (with three losses and four wins)

Match 4: Jon [RoadTrippin']
Dragon?!?!

What?! There were good decks in this tourney? Damn, well I hadn't planned on playing Dragon. Yeah, so turn two dragon, no counters over here....Game two: Crypt and Rod in. Um..he played Dragon. I hate when they do that. I drew and drew and drew, I actually drew around seven cards, and then as a last hope a cycled a decree for um......0 just to see if I got the Swords I needed to stay alive. As usual though my deck hates me. Rolling Eyes

2-2: Last match determines whether I get a prize or not

Match 5: (Insert happy name here) Idk, sorry
Belcher...hehe

This guy sealed his own doom by playing belcher. You don't play 5 lands or less in a deck, unless you want to lose. As any belcher deck does, he "Spoilsed" first turn on both games, and found belcher two cards down the first time and TEN! the second Smile thanks dude. my first turn sees a wonderful MM naming Belcher. I take the game over turn one and he just gets pummelled by angry angels. Game two I just MM second turn and FoW his turn one belcher. He dies slowly at the hands of Mages.

3-2: Putting me in a happy third (though I'm not sure how...).  I win ten bucks, netting 5. Sounds like a sucessful tourney to me.

Discuss and comment and you know what? you can even critique and yell at me for playing the janky deck cause I too know it sucks. Wink

I split with Slavery in the finals after beating you, then my deck *would have* beat him 3 games in a row. Actually, my deck didn't lose a game on the night- I lost games my deck would have won easily were it played by a refrigerator. Rob took a game from me in the swiss partially due to play mistakes, moreso due to my suck factor. I think the kid you played 3rd round is named Phil, but don't quote me on that one. Anyways, nice finish for such an.. interesting.. deck. Razz

That was a fun tourney, most of actually planned on playing bad decks. My friend Chris (no account) played what we coined Mana Drain-Juggernaut- I win. It also had Flametongue Kavu in there and Dyrad I think for some reason to. Mine was some B/W/g deck that was supposed to be Enforcer-Geddon, but turned into some power crazy deck with just strong cards. I went 2-1 but still got 5th cause of bad ties. Only thing I lost to was the Trinistax deck (which I think was actually trinislax  Rolling Eyes ) When he went first turn 3Sphere on game 1 and 3. I think the last round though was the match up of the night with me and chris' deck going at it.

The last game put us both in topdeck mode, with me being a little ahead cause I had been hitting his lands with wastes. The best part was this though, I had sylvan library from the maindeck, and a Holistic Wisdom I had tossed in my sideboard (I also had a noble panter in there that I promised I would use if I got to the top 2.) So I just kept pitching Duress and Birds for Vindicates and Exalted Angel. Good times, good times.

Although most of us played bad decks on purpose, I'm glad to see good decks popping up on cape finally, I know Injectillio was trading and teaching kids to play some stuff a while back, and a few other kids have become more interested in T1 then to just play elf decks and are actually learning how to play.

O ya and John (Roadtrippin'), naming Chalice of the Void with Cabal therapy when you could go off first turn? Very nice, almost as good as "so you got rectors in your deck chris" "nope" 1 min later "Cabal therapy naming rector....!@#$"

Feanor for what everyone else was playing except a few people this was fine   but I think it could have used more card drawing, I saw your control deck with way to few cards all night long. What did you proxie besides Moxen? Could have you gotten Recall and Timewalk?

@RoadTrippin: Refrigerators don't have opposable thumbs..... Very Happy. Not to mention, with duress, you can't go wrong. I assume that's how Rob got some games off you. Besides White Knights just kick ninja ass!

@Androstan: Actually I'm dissapointed too. I might have played my vintage Elfball, if it weren't so disorganized, since the number of proxies was correct. To tell you the truth I took apart my Sligh in all forms, but the power of burn is not devoid in my soul. I'm slowly working on a R/G beats due to my eternal love for Kird Ape. Maybe once I got a good version going I'll post it,  but who knows when the next rush of school stuff will keep me busy. If it'll cheer ye up, I'll promise to put together a nice Tempest Sligh for the next scrubby. Smile .

@Plainswalker: HOLISTIC WISDOM!!!!!! There's something wrong with you man Razz. That was one of the wierdest combo things I'd ever seen. I'm making a wisdom deck Very Happy.
So about the construction of my deck. I really didn't have time to think about adding other power. In fact, I never thought about it because I figured the power I'd want to proxy would be accellerators(der, whats recall?). So I'll skim over the list and hope some Tundras come my way, thanks.

Peace Cool

That makes me happy Feanor, a warm glow is inside me Smile.

I don't think I have to tell anyone at tmd that tempest was my favorite set ^_^.  I wasted kjeldoran outposts so hard they never saw play again.
