there is a very good possiblility that my friend and I will convince this non-profit movie theatre owner to have a type 1 magic tournament, and hopefully he'll put up enough money to purchase a mox and some other good cards for 2nd/3rd, as long as we make the money back in entrance fees. the theatre is 2 mins from the center of orange, mass, and im just wondering how many people would be interested?

Team VT would most likely come out for that (there's like 3-5 of us). Good luck with the organization, I hope you make it happen! =)

If the date allows (which very few dates will, but just in case) I would probably go.

orange, ma?
that's practically in my backyard. provided there is power, and the entry/proxy is reasonable you can count me and about 3-10 other hadley-ites in.

I might be able to make it, depending on date/times and proxy count...
Possibly bring a couple friends, etc.

So long as this does not conflict with the NJ Lotus tourny this sat, or the Northeast T1 championship I would show up with probably one other.

I was thinking that because there aren't very many people up in orange that play the game as religiously as some others, we should allow 10 proxies...I know that this board will blow up with both happy and angry people, and this number is still negotiable, but for all intensive purposes the more people that show up the better. I've heard that there are a LOT of people who play in orange, and the more proxies that are allowed the more players that will show up, but thats my opinion. Id like to hear some opinions about why you think 5 is a good idea, or 10 is a good idea. In regards to entrance fees, im assuming that if mox "X" costs us $250 to pick up, and the combination of 2nd/3rd prize is like $100, then thats $350 coming out of their pockets. I dont think that getting 35 people to pay $10 would be a problem, and the goal is to at least make this place some money, even if its just $50. So I can make this promise, you can count on the entrance fee being less than $15. The ONLY way that the cost will go over $15 per person is if 20 or less people show up. I dont mind losing some money to this tournament if i can get a bunch of people to have a great time, but I'm rather tight for funds at the moment and I'd rather not have a huge risk on my hands. Thanks all
Tom
P.S. If you are wondering, this will be run properly with deck registration. If anybody knows the name of the program that ryan and rich use at hadley for the tournaments they hold, or something very similar, PLEASE post where I can find it and what its called, thx again.

DCI Reporter, it's somewhere on the wizards or dci website. It's a free download.
I've been totally immersed in TOing recently, I'd be happy to lend my services to you guys if more of your would-be organizers want to play. Drop me an email or an IM or something and we'll talk.

It absolutely has to be on the first saturday or sunday of the month. So as long as everything goes to plan, it will be april 3rd(saturday) or the 4th(sunday). Prizes and entry fees are going to be subject to the # of entrants, but there will be a mox for first no matter what. If 10 people show up, we're goin to have to raise the entrance fees, obviously. Figure it this way, if 10 people show up, you'll be paying $25 to have a 1/10 chance of winning a mox, but i dont think that there will be a problem with contestants showing up. It's gonna be 10 proxies for the tourney, and the mox is going to be a ruby, jet, or emerald. I figure that hadley just had a tourney for a sapphire, and pearls arent REALLY that sought after, so i personally would like to see a ruby up. But id like to know what you all think so just add ur personal choice to your posts please!
