So around August 24th I will be going off to college.  This normally isn't THAT big of a deal to the game of magic since well, there are plenty of people at most colleges I have been to that play.  However the problem is that I would definately like to find a local tourney spot (or at least one within 2 hours of my location where I could go and play for a decent amount of dough (or for power etc..)  That again is not that big of a deal, with the small exception that the college I am going to is Michigan Tech.  And for those of you who don't know MI Tech is in the Upper Pennisula of MI.  This creates a bit of a locational issue.  I figured If there are none within the city (MI Tech's City) then it will probably be easier to travel off to Canada some weekend to find a tourney.  Any locals/friendly Canadians wanna help me with a nice hotspot.. (and a metagame listing if you have one.)?

Thanks,
Spence

Gimbles:
I doubt many Yoopers even know how to *spell* Magic, let alone play it.

So, you are probably going to be in a Magic "dead zone" much outside the College Campus area.

I seem to remember posts in the past from the St. Sault Marie, On area, so that may be a possibility as well.

I wish you luck in your endeavors.

I was born and raised in Michigan.
Now, I am in Arizona, which is almost as much of a Type 1 wasteland as I imagine the Upper Peninsular will be for you.

Everything Is in Kalamazoo or in the East Side. But I do knwo of two stores in the UP that have Magic. Pinnacle in St.Sault Marie has friday night magic. Also there is another sports/hobbyshop in St Sault Marie in the more tourist section on the locks. They have good deals and alot of old packs.c

Thanks man, I looked on map quest and there appears to be a store within 4 miles of me which has cards, and I should be able to find people within campus, the main concern was actual tourneys.  I suppose I can always look to Apprentice/MWS then.

Thanks man.. Lookin forward to somethin, I know for sure of a shop 4 miles away from the college.  If all else fails, [bs]i'll drag people into the game.. They'll learn after the first few times I gobbo-smash them what cards are good and what aren't then we'll get a meta game and go to type 1 tourneys in canada and win and and....[/bs]
Seriously tho, I hope someone up there plays, and not just casual..
