As promised... The rules for this competition will be: 4th/5th/IA/Mirage/Tempest Blocks. Banned list: Any cards not from 4th Edition, 5th Edition, Ice Age Block, Mirage Block, Tempest Block Anvil of Bogarden Balance Ensnaring Bridge Evil Presence Roc Hatchling Strip Mine The Rack Wasteland NB this is subject to change within 24hrs of first posting.
What is 3cb?
3-Card Blind (3CB) is a very unique game. The rules are as follows
Your deck is composed of 3 cards, all of which start in your hand. You have no library (technically, the library exists, but starts at 0 cards) and no sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing). Random effects always go in your opponent's favour. You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play. You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card. You will play each opponent twice, once going first, once going second. For each win, you score 3. For each draw, you score 1. For each lose, you get nothing. Other than the aforementioned, EVERYTHING IS HANDLED EXACTLY LIKE A REAL GAME OF MAGIC! To make an entry, PM your deck to me in the following format: Subject: 3cb Tournament #30 Entry or 3cb Tournament#30 Revision Deck Name Card #1 Card #2 Card #3 Optional Deck discussion, random sucking up, etc. I will calculate the first 20 entrants who I receive, or I'll close entries after a week. Get your entries in by 25th March and I'll calculate. As I said, the banned list may change within 24 hours of this post going up. After that, it stays as it is. This is not a reason to withold your decks, though - this is not a particuarly serious format! If something's broke, please fix it whilst we can! Tom

This is a weird format. I thought about doing City-Vault-Vexing Arcanix, but the activation cost is one too high (and it isn't that good a deck anyway).
If you felt they would be a problem, you could ban Blight and Phantasmal Terrain.

what about playing three mishras factories? your opponenet would have to kill them with instants. and you get a 3/3 and a 2/2 if the 3/3 dies.

Roc Hatchling is also banned.
I banned it because it is, effectively, a 3/3 flier for 1 mana. There is no reason to play any cheap creatures with the exceptions of hypnotic specter and savannah lions in an aggro deck over it, as it has an awesome power/toughness:mana ratio. As such, I've banned it. Yes, even though swords exists.
I hope I've made the right decisions - the metagame for this format, unlike the last, is so varied and open that it may well be possible to do this again with another banned list. We'll see how the results turn out.

Nah, do 3x Circling Vultures, so you can actually DO something (depending on your definition of "something").

I have 10 entries so far including mine - could do with a few more, especially considering I got 17 last time with a far less interesting format! There are so many good cards that are not being abused as they should be yet! I don't want to give away any decks, but there are some interesting ones there. Let's have some more entries!

I'm not only allowing mods to send 2 decks...... I'm not sure whether to use both decks in the table or only 1 - maybe the more successful one, or your first one? What do people think? Oh, and I think it may be a little unfair of me to enter a second deck, as there's a small possiblity that it may be strong Tom

Wonkey, you shouldn't be able to enter a second deck after you have seen what 12 or so of the decks look like, for obvious reasons. Also, allowing people to enter two decks and just pick the better one would be retarded, as it would be impossible to calculate. On the other hand, if only the mods are allowed to enter their second decks, it gives them an unfair advantage. I propose that you make matt and R_x pick between the decks that they want to submit, and pick the one that they think is strongest.

my point was that matt had asked to enter a second deck, and I said ok - then r_x_ asked too, so I said yes, that it wasn't only mods (read: matt) that could enter a second deck. When I posted last time, I was saying that I wouldn't enter a second deck.
I've decided that if I get 15 entrants, I'll disallow the second decks and only pick the first one (unless, of course, people want to change their decks before results are published). I was simply trying to boost the entry numbers - and it's not a particuarly serious format, so it's not going to hurt anything... if people are so against the idea, then I will of course stop it happening, I just thought it might mix things up a little.
