I have some good and some bad news.

The bad news is that the big announcement was supposed to be that there would be a guest appearance of a Magic Artist at the tournament. This will unfortunately not be the case because I don't have the funding of $200 for four hours required.

The good news is that one of our vendors, Jeff Anand, announced that he will be adding a Abyss to the already staggering prize support. This abyss will likely be a rafflee prize.

Westerdale is coming...now all we need is an appearance from Steve to make this the best thing since bread that slices itself

I really don't think I'll make this one, my free weekends don't happen until May. Sad

Oh sure, Z can make it down to some terrible non-Waterbury tourney, but it'd be just too much to ask for him to come down for a quality event!

I had originally planned on playing, but now I have found myself on the administrative side and will be helping to run it.

The real question is, what is going on the night before?

Steve:  Tell work Jes is having a baby or something.  That'll make them back off for a weekend.

Stuff happening before the tourney:  I know Bryce and Derek want to get a hotel room and have a hotel room party, lightening the load on Ray's apartment if he decides to party again.  I've got playtesting to do with Bryce and Derek, so I'll be there.  People that want in should PM me and I'll see if we can make it happen.

I've heard word of a party at the hotel. (see: Kowal's post). If this isn't true, then we should definitely get one together.

There are ALOT of people coming from Binghamton(Read somewhere around 10-15).  We're planning on getting a room or three and splitting them up.  It should be awesome.

And if you can't get an artist, I'll sign stuff Very Happy

10-15?  god damn.

I've got a rogue creation I'll probably be playing, so I can scrub out hard and help Ray organize.  Either that, or it'll totally mess with Dr. Sylvan's April data.  Either way is awesome, and by awesome I mean totally sweet.

Y'all have NO IDEA how crazy Ben has become. He taunted me all morning until I had to go to class with the different cards he was gonna get into my data. I think he's obsessed, actually.

I mean, friggin' [card]Aysen Highway[/card] is the central strategy for this deck. Obviously it's at least as good as that Dulmen WW deck, right? I had to threaten him with the mighty [card]Great Wall[/card] just to squeeze out the admission that his plan wasn't impervious to all current decks.

Since when is Great Wall a part of any current deck?

And if Carl doesn't come through on signing cards, I can augment them. Unless I'm busy. Or I just don't like you. As far as the latter goes, I'll still alter your cards, you just won't like what I do to them. No, I don't have any artistic experience or even talent (Hell, I've never really even done anything much worthy of note in the world of Magical cards, at least, nothing that anyone would know about or give me credit for. Except bitching. I do a lot of bitching. Yeah, that's pretty much all I'm good for in the Magic community; bitching and giving some lucky opponent a bye in the quarterfinals.), but I can draw a mean stick figure/dildo.

Sorry for the double post

Unfortunately I will not be having a party at my house the night before the open...I will however be in Waterbury the night before and am looking to crash a few of the in-hotel parties...who is having them. I heard Binghamton is...but is anyone else?

There will be a party in the Binghamton rooms if somebody wants to spring for hookers and/or strippers.

Has anyone considered taking the opportunity to add a "Who won the die roll?" question to the match slips so we could get some stats on how important going first is? I know I was really happy when they did that for GP NO (last year?) in Extended. Y'all know I've got a major fetish for data, how realistic do you think this idea is?

Approximately one year ago, I won Waterbury with an UrPhid list I shamelessly netdecked from Brian Phelon.

Two months later, I made the claim that I was comfortable in the GAT matchup.  People were up in arms, but I held fast to my claim.

This Waterbury, I will defend it.  Chief Heckler Aaron Kerzner will be packing his old list of four gush GAT, and we'll finally be completing our nearly year old grudge match.

Who else is going to rock the grudge matches?  We've got three days to call out this shit.

Now wait just a minute....  I remember schooling your ass with Keeper in the height of your 4 Gush glory at Hadley.

Now, one year later, Highlander is going to rape your 4 Gush GAT.  Be prepared!
