Errotic Explosion - Really fun

Well I made a fun Extended deck a few days ago based around the Erratic Explosion / Draco combo.  The deck has somewhat impressed me with the fact that it's gotten me some surprise wins in a few casual games. Haven't brought it to a tourney and if I did it would obviously be for pure fun without any real expectations. I'm going to try and convert it over to type 1 and see how fast a win can be achieved. I realize the combo itself isn't even optimal since it leaves the opponent at 4 life, but like I said, I don't expect it to be 'the next big thing'.

Obviously, right off the bat the mana has to be changed. Remove 3 Chrome Mox for 1 Black Lotus, 1 Mox Ruby and 1 Mox Saphire. Remove the 4 City of Brass for 4 Volcanic Island. Also I will probably take out 1 Island and 1 Mountain for 1 Sol Ring and 1 Mana Crypt. That gives a much better mana base, however I'm still looking for suggestions.

For search and draw, Ancestral Recall is an obvious addition, so -1 Careful study, +1 Ancestral Recall. Have to go down to 1 Burning Wish so replace it with a Time Walk. Also have to cut 1 Mystical Tutor, so lets add in a Frantic Search in its place.

Ok so now we have a decklist, I guess I'll give an explanation on how the deck is supposed to work. It's actually -really- simple, use a Brainstorm or Scroll Rack to drop a draco on top of your library, then cast an erratic explosion to do 16 to your opponent. After that you can finish him off with another Erratic Explosion (using a Fire Ice since it has a CC of 4) or a Sonic Blast (is there better 4 damage DD?).  You could even pull the earthquake from the sideboard with the Burning Wish if you have to.

What I'm really looking for are some suggestions to either speed it up or make it more consistant. I'm probably using some sub-optimal cards simply because I'm forgetting something pretty obvious.

I was just having a good time playing this in extended and thought I'd see if could work at all in type 1. My Meta is probably 65% scrubby aggro, if that helps with the suggestions.

I agree, and the 4 counterspells in the sideboard were supposed to be force of will.

since my meta is mostly srubby aggro I went for the fattest possible combo'ing off and left the counter spells for the sideboard to bring in against control decks.

I would like some suggestions on what to remove though, to possibly bring them into the maindeck.

3 Careful Study is a good start, but that still leaves 5 cards to be removed.

If you can fit green in there, Worldly Tutor puts a Draco on top of your deck every time.

What about splashing black for Lim-Dul's Vault? You could find Draco, put him on top of your library and have a possible turn 2 or 3 hit for 16.

have 1 - 2 would be nice, however, how would you go about fixing the mana base?

possibly add some of the fetch lands and maybe a tropical island or something.

By "Sonic Blast," Did you mean Psionic Blast, or Sonic Burst?
I'd pick the former before the latter, If I were you.  You could also run lightning bolts in that slot, since just about every deck will find a way to do at least one damage to itself (usually via fetch land).

You might want to try running another cunning wish, or two.  This way you can use it to fetch additional counters in the sideboard.  You could stand to have a more wishable board, too.  Something like this:

And i'd try to find a way to run Force of Will maindeck.  It just makes too much of a difference in most games, especially against something like a first turn trinishphere, or tangle wire.

I also haven't seen a blue deck not run mana drain.  It's the second most important counterspell in the format, and will give you enough tempo to get the combo going faster.

Also, shit-can the shivan reefs for more moxes/basic land.  This  will make your draws better, and your fetches more effective against people smart enough to run Blood Moons, Back to basics, or Wastelands.

Since you've got scroll racks in there, you might want to consider doing something absolutely silly, like running a Goblin Charbelcher or two.  Ha...picture that with a Mana Serveyance to wish out of the Side Board, just as an alternative, super-sneaky combo...just when they think a dragon is going to blow up in their face...

It seems to me that even if you pull off an Erratic Explosion, the other four damage can be a bit tough.  Have you considered Mishra's Factory of Faerie Conclave?
