Control of Creatures and their abilities

If I have control magic on an Academy rector, and it dies, going to my opponents graveyard, does he still have the option of removing it and searching hi deck, or do I get to remove it and get to search mine, as I was the last controller?

So, you control the trigger and chose to remove it and seach for an encahntment.
