rancored_elf, from mtgnews.com posted the rumor of a new card from the upcoming set that looks quite promising:

Serum Vision - (U)
Instant (C)
Draw a card.
Scry 2 (Look at the top 2 cards of your library, put any number of them on the bottom of your library and the rest on top in any order.)

That card looks amazing, and seems on par with Brainstorm and will probably be played in all formats.

Brainstorm digs 3 down, this only digs 1 down and then lets you play with the next 2 cards, that is a huge difference. Like in combo when digging for another mana source, or in control when digging for a FoW to save your butt. This won't really help in those situations.

Need more, if you have any, PM, I will trade/buy.

If we keep abusing Goblin Welders like this, eventually they are all going to go on strike.

Wow, that's pretty damn good. Better than Sleight of Hand, for sure - glad I never bothered tracking down BB Sleights!

It is a different form of slight or impulse. It is still worse than BS in many cases.

brainstorm allows you to flush dead cards away with fetches
it also allows you to hide from discard
this serum vision, not quite as hot

It is true that Brainstorm is excellent in the previously mentioned situations, but sometimes you are stuck with 2 cards on top of your library that you don't need, and no fetchland to shuffle things up.  This would be where the Scry mechanic would be quite useful to have.

speculation = bad. It's not worth talking about new cards until the set comes out. Closed.
