I may be relocating to Charlotte NC and was wondering if there is any Type 1 action in the area.
If not, where would the closest Type 1 action be?

I know of a few players in Asheville, where I live, but nothing much. Sad to say, there isn't a whole lot of action anywhere close to this state.

I go to Duke which is in Durham, NC. I am told by one of the local residents that there is a place called Sports Cards Unlimited where you can play type 1 occassionally, although we're talking only like 10 people or so, and the metagame may or may not be worth playing in. I personally have never been there, but if you want to check it out, you can. Let me know if you find out anything else. Thanks.

The only place I know to play in Charlotte is at Warzone Games (it might be called Underground Games). From talking to the owner, T1 kind of died out in the area, but I think some of the old players are still around. I got the impression that it's mostly a T2/extended place. I've been on a break for the last few years, but plan on checking it out one of these weekends. PM me if you're in Charlotte and need someone to play against.
Also, i think there's a monthly T1 at DJ's comics in High Point, NC (about 2 hours from Charlotte). I've never been, but I remember hearing attendance was about 15-20 on average, and generally suboptimal builds.

In Durham, NC, there's Sports Cards Unlimited in Northgate Mall which usually has monthly T1s. That is, when I bug the hell out of them.
And for the High Point tourneys, one of the guys who runs the store told me that they have T1s on Sundays, usually like at 2 in the afternoon.

Appreciate all the info. In job hunting mode and currently it looks like Charlotte might be my best chance.
Just as the Type 1 scene is starting to grow in St Louis it looks like I'll have to leave it.
@argus definitely will PM if I end up in Charlotte. Maybe we can get the Type 1 action started again in Charlotte.

There is a place in High Point called DJs Cards the type 1 is on Sundays and begins around 2 or 3 the metagame is farely easy to beat the average attendance is normally 10-15 and they allow 3 proxies and entrance fee is $3
