Thanks  Very Happy

It was a nice tournament. The highlight of the day for me was Firestorming two Phyrexian Negators for 4, causing my opponent to sacrifice all of his permanents, including a Goblin Charbelcher with me at one life.

I made a pretty dissappointing appearence, playing Shop-Slaver with some odd choices Stefan and Me came up with the day before. The last minute adittions were great! the rest of the deck wasnt  Confused

QnD Report

Round 1: U/W Control
Game 1: I Chain of Vapor a Scepter With Chant and go nuts with Slaver
Game 2: He's mana screwed, I'm not

Round 2: Ravanger
Game 1: An early Sphere + Wire stun my mana development for too long
Game 2: First turn welder goes a long way, I topdeck shop to drop and activate slaver
Game 3: I have a Memnarch, he has mulitple clamps. We run out of time, but I was is a pretty bad board position.

Round 3: Drain-Slaver
Game 1: I Outdraw him with LoA, but cards don't matter when your opponent slavers you...
Game 2: I'm mana screwed and get beated down by 4 welder (my shaman and chalice for 0 stopped all his plans dead.)

Round 4: Drain-Slaver
Game 1: Somehwere I resolve welder en walk when he's tapped out. I slave him and wish for his own chain of vapor, pwned!!
Game 2: He slavers me, but can't do much. Little later Trike beats him down

Round 5: B/W Sui
Game 1: I chain of vapor a Scepter and go into slaver mode.
Game 2: I force a Chant and resolve welder and shaman. Memnarch > Negator ... actually I stole the Negator Razz

Round 6: Dragon
Game 1: I resolve chalice for 2 and he topdecks Mancy
Game 2: See game 1, this time a verdant beat me though.

Karn was pretty good, and Chain of vapor was amazing. But the manabase was a little shaky and I lacked a good board against Dragon.

Koen

btw. I thought I was 9th on the final standing, doesnt matter much though, 9th is still bad  Razz

You were, until the guy who is in 9th now came up with a result from round3 or something where he won, and I put it into dcir wrong. He was also smart enough to tell me this AFTER handing out prizes. Some people.... Surprised

Gee.  The first place deck looks familiar.  Now where have I seen that before?

OH YEAH! http://www.themanadrain.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16778

My SB exactly except for the Oxidize over 2nd Shaman and you choose the Gush over 3rd Intution (understandable).

Good Job Tom.  One question though: How was the Firestorm over Fire/Ice?  I'm still not certain of that move.  And there is one other potential change I was contemplating: 2nd Deed over the 3rd Shaman - which you have replaced with Oxidize.  Any thoughts?  How were the double BEBS and SB Shaman?  Twisted Evil

I really liked the Firestorm. I only had to Wish for it once but in that game it turned a lost game into a win (see my previous post Smile). I missed Fire Ice in the last match I played because my opponent had a Maze of Ith but Time Walk solved that problem (though my opponent had to make a mistake for that to work, Mazing an unpumped Tog is pretty horrible). Fire Ice is helpfull sometimes but I wouldn't cut Firestorm for it, I think Firestorm will let you win more games than Fire Ice.

I didn't really like the Gush in this deck, it was a bit to situational. I'll try Merchant Scroll or Intuition over it next time.
I liked the Oxidize, depending on the matchup I switched artifact removal from sideboard to maindeck and the Oxidize gave me some more options.
The third Gorilla would have been nice but I didn't really miss it.
I don't think a second Deed is needed, between Firestorm and the artifact removal there aren't a lot of things this deck can't handle.
Blue Elemental Blast was great, I boarded it in against the 3 Slaver decks I played against and it served me well.

I never Wished for Vampiric Tutor and I'm thinking about cutting it. I haven't played against the Germbus deck but I'm thinking about adding a Terror or Terminate (probably Terror because getting 2 support colours is a bit difficult with all the Wastelands being played)

Agreed. You need a wishable Removal for things like Exalted Angels. But dont play Terminate or Terror, go and play Vendetta or Snuff Out, its easier to cast and not worse. Snuff Out was in my Sb like three month or so and it was always good.

I feel similarly about the Vamp tutor.  However, I will probably cut it to make room for Deep Anal.  I have really liked the 3rd Intuition though - as you can tell.  It has been nothing but a pleasure to draw.

I'll try the third Intuition, I'm sure it will be better than Gush in this deck. A Deep Analysis would be nice to have in the sideboard but I'm a bit worried about Exalted Angel. With one Wishable removal spell you don't have to worry too much about it. Snuff Out seems like a good idea. I was also thinking about Ghastly Demise but Snuff Out is a bit more reliable and flexible.

The point about Ghastly Demise is, that it cant kill Dragons! If there is no Dragon in your area, you dont have to worry about it, but Snuff Out is a really nice surprise for your Dragon playing oppnent Wink.

I asume that you mean Wishing for a Snuff Out in responce to him trying to combo? If you play Ghastly Demise you can still go for BEB, it does basically the same thing. The biggest disadvantage of the Snuff Out is that you need an Underground Sea for it to work. Mox Jet is not good enough. So maybe Vendetta is the better option because a situation were you have black mana but no Underground Sea might happen against a deck with 5 Strips.

Not only for Cunning Wish, its just a surprise when you are tapped out and he tries to combo you out in the 2nd game. He doesnt expect a card that costs him all his perms, he thinks that your only chance to stop his combo is a force so he will try to combo you even if he cant back it up.

I won one game in a tourney against Dragon just because of the described situation.

And I never had a problem with having an underground sea in play when wishing for a removal. Wink
