White is traditionally the color of defensive creatures. This is an efficient way to stop a fast offensive. Is it too powerful? I like the idea of a cleric that dies to protect his ideals, and gives an example to others so they follow in his footsteps. One thing this card definitely needs is a good flavor text.

It would be cool if he cost more ({W}, maybe?), but searched out two copies of himself - that could justify a flavor text that took off "you can kill me but two more will take my place". Also, please post a current wording in bold.

That's really strong--not only is it a recurring 1/1 for W, but you get to prevent tons of damage too. I think the additional copies should go to your hand instead.

Any suggestions for definitive flavor text?

Also: do you think of this card as a common? I created this following Matt's petition of the cards still needed for the set; I don't think that as a common it would be too powerful.

It would be pretty terrible at other rarities ecause you'd never be able to draft multiples.

I'd rather see this at 1WW than 2W. It just gives you so much damage prevention.

With the current casting cost, I don't think it is too powerful. In a draft, you would need four or more to make them really good, and if you are drafting this, you are missing drafting more offensive creatures. As it is, if you manage to draft three of them, you will be rewarded with a strong effect that will effectively stall the opponent, but will not put any kind of pressure on the board.

I can change the casting cost to WW1, but before that I would like to know if it is really overpowered at W2.

The name should probably be changed a little, because it's not really proper english. Idealistic Defender or Defender of the Ideal work.

Idealist:

1. One whose conduct is influenced by ideals that often conflict with practical considerations.
2. One who is unrealistic and impractical; a visionary.

I would say the definition is correct, although if you native english speakers think it is not right, it can be changed

Yeah, but idealist and defender are both nouns. That's like calling a creature "Cleric Knight".
