When: Sunday, May 16th, Registration 12 PM - 1 PM

How Much: Entry Fee: TBA

What: Type 1, 10 Proxies Allowed

Prize Structure:TBA

Where:

Myriad Games
8 Stiles Rd.
Salem, NH 03079
1-800-459-5516
www.myriadgames.com

Folks, this will likely be the regular NH event venue. Cividel and Dan came down to NH a while back and discussed the opening of a new store, and here it is. It's a brand new store and best of all it's right at the mass border so it's a quicker ride for many of you.

I'll be there and I hope to see as many of you as possible. As for the prizes, we're working on the structure now but it's looking to be either a pair of drains, a twister, or a workshop depending on the kind of feedback we get.

Any questions, shoot them at me!

Directions from Hadley

Directions from Waterbury, CT

Directions from Boston (38 Minutes!)

With lots of luck I will be able to go.  It all depends on the schedule for my final exams.

This is like 5 minutes from my old stomping grounds.  I'll be there, but I'm calling out big Z ahead of time.  I've taken out Germbus, now I want the guy who cycled 10 damn soldier tokens on my ass!

You got it, you and me. Either in the tournament or sidelines grudge style show down. I haven't lost to your Dryads yet and I still run 1 more Decree than I did almost a year ago.

Btw, thanks everyone. I consider it a personal favor to help get this set up.

Considering you didn't put the directions from Paris, I'm assuming you don't want to see the Toad.

Have you ever flown in to Logan?  It's nuts.  It seems like the plane is going to land in the water right up until it doesn't.  I can't blame anyone who doesn't want to fly.  Sad

I'm still talking to the person holding this one. It's somewhat dependant on entrants, but I think we're going to be well enough off to warrant a Twister or Ruby. I'll post as soon as I know.

That would be awesome, because I know power attracts lots more people then tourneys with similar (but non-power) payout.

After all, wining power = bragging rights

The way it's looking, there is TWO other conflicting tournaments that were announced AFTER this one. This is especially odd since this is on a SUNDAY, not the normal saturday time most people aim for. I'm really fucking irritated about it and if I were a lesser person, I'd just delete the competing threads.

Zerbus I agree with you. I had my tournament scheduled about 2 months before the dscheduled date and a month later another store schedules a tournament for the same day.  It relly sucks because it cuts the attendace in half

This was easily the worst magic day ever. I didn't do bad, but I had a migraine from round 3 forward. I had 1 loss (and Kowal and I intentionally drew rnd 3 so we could play goof-off games instead) from some rogue Sundering Titan/Stacker thing that I had no idea played Tanglewire so game 3 (after conceding game 2 really quickly and winning game 1 pretty handily) when I had sided out Decree I was suprised by them.

By the time round 5 was over I had beaten Control Slaver, Gay/r, Suicide, split the mirror, and lost to WorkshopGoodStuff.dec (I really liked this deck, I need to bug GI for a list) but had the ever-present migraine which developed into nausia. I was waiting for rnd 6 to start, but the longer I waited between going outside for air and coming back in to sit, I grew more ill. I waited to see my pairings and was paired against Dan Richardson (Pernacious Dude). I hoped it would go fast and it did.

Game 1 he ate 3 of my 4 mana over the course of the early game. I fight back vomiting. The game lasted a long time but I just missed too many land drops and he did a fine job of killing the few I did play. I fight back vomiting. Game 2 I drew 7 blue cards, no lands so it's thrown back, I draw 6 with 1 land but lots of cheap stuff. I fight back vomiting. I have the 1 land while he plays his deck freely. I fight back vomiting. I decide I don't care I just want to go home. Dan is an excellent guy and player, I knew he'd be able to actually play the t8 while I would just fight back vomiting. Not waiting to see if I'd draw into mana after like turn 4, I concede. I fight back vomiting.

I leave rather quickly, since I was about to yak. Tyler and I speed back to Manchester and I drop him off. I fight back vomiting. I drive back home. I fight back vomiting. I get home and puke. I lay down. I get up and puke. I lay back down and sleep for 3 hours. I'm fighting back vomiting.

A sidenote: I have this sort of reverse curse in that I've never lost a mirror with 4cControl. Even when I've been losing, I came out of nowhere for the win. By splitting with Kowal before playing, I seemed to have bypassed the rules of said curse. Game 1, I sit on no mana and no wastes (We were just messing around so what I kept didn't matter) while he draws like 12-15 off LoA. Game 2 *I* have the LoA and thing I'm gonna be king shit. I drop LoA turn 1, he plays land-mox-timewalk-untap-land-ancestral-mox-sol ring-scrye for 2-go. Sad Sad Sad

Some people vomit, yes.

Others have a hole in their engine while cruising up I-290 in MA on their way to the tournament.

I think I'm destined to never play Dragon at a tournament.  Ray's car decided that it was about time to die.  And so it did.  And so we three magic players got to wait in the lobby of a motel for a couple hours until we got a ride back to CT.  w00t.

As a side note: results?

Suck.  So does this mean team CT will be transportionally limited in the near future, or is Ray getting it fixed?

Quote
results

It was a good size crowd, but I would have to say a bit on the inexperienced side.  The field was pretty diverse, and outside of team hadley, there were a lot of new faces.

Top 8 looked like:

Goblins (not even close to FCG)
>>>
Fish (Pernicious Dan)

Hulk (Hulk3Rules)
>>>
Forty 40's (Elyas Macheras)

Forty 40's (me)
>>>
Dragon

U/R Stacker
>>>
Rector Tendrils/Trix

T4

Hulk
>>>
Goblins

Forty 40's
>>>
Stacker

It was about 10:30 when Hulk's match was over, we were all exhausted, and he didn't mind taking the workshop, so we basically split with a grudge match to follow.

Amusingly, Hulk's Berserk was on loan to the indentured Eastman, and he forgot to board a proxy version.  He ended up killing people with Gush all day!

Thanks to Dan for hosting the tourney.  Its a great place to play: roomy, accessable, clean.

I was a little disappointed though:
1) Even with a 1 o'clock start time, round 1 didn't get going until 1:40
2) There was a strange emphasis on ordering pizza, which caused two half hour breaks in between rounds
3) The prize support was rather weak given the entrance and attendance.

I know its a new store, and they need to pay the rent, but hopefully future events will be better furnished.
