Hi all,

It's Ray checking in with you regarding the recently held Waterbury TMD Open 3.  I apologize for not getting this in sooner.  I've been really busy with stuff this past week.

First, many thanks to many people
- All of you guys for your support.  Obviously, Waterbury is what it is because of you more than anything.
- All my help, specifically Theresa, my beautiful girlfriend without whose help, Waterbury could not be half of what it is.  Also, huge thanks to my bro, Rich Robillard, and friend Jarad Demick.  These two guys put in so much effort to help in any way they could.  You guys rock.
- Additional help was provided by friends Jim Phillips, Ben Kowal, Todd Pantalaitis, Jon Leskow, and Judges Jason LeDuc, Dan Richardson, and Jacob Orlove.
- Our two Vendors, Jeff Anand and Sam's Comics and Cards of Meridan Ct.  These guys worked hard all day to make sure everyone had all the cards they needed, no matter how rare, or odd.
- Steve and TMD for without whose advertising space, the word could not possibly be spread about these events as easily as it is.  I know I'm repeatative, Steve, but thanks 100 times over.
-Anyone I'm forgetting.  I always forget someone.  Please don't be upset.  Thank you even though my mind is a fog right now.

Now some points I wanted to discuss, and then the top 16 decks.
- How would everyone feel about a 10:00 start time instead of 11:00...will it have a dramatic effect on the number of people who come down.  Please let me know.  Thanks.

- I LOVE the international participation.  I don't know if you guys know this but we had 12! canadian players come down in 3 different cars.  I hung out with a few at Dennys after the event(one of which was WUaffiliate) and they are great guys....hope you guys can make it again.

- The syrup chugging contest/Garbage Cans.  Although, I must say that this was a cool idea and I welcome wacky stuff like this in the future, please guys, don't forget that the ability for me to hold future events is somewhat reliant on my ability to procure the space at the marriott.  What this means is...if you puke in the sink of the bathroom off the lobby.  Please do something about it.  I was forced to clean up vommit, so that some snotty business man type did not complain about us to the front desk.  Along the same line, I bought and brought many garbage cans to the event and regularly changed the bags, after the Marriott complaining last time about food on the floor.  I have to COMPLIMENT you all, as the floor garbage was dramatically less this time.  Please continue to be respectful of the room in the future.

- There were a substantial number of female magic players at this event.  I think it is great that the ladies were coming out in greater numbers to kick some guy ass and take names (but not numbers...I believe they all had boyfriends)  How cool would it be if sometime soon we can actually run a Women only 8 person side event with the prize of a Foil Serra Angel...any takers out there girls?

- Alot of people are shy to give me constructive criticism, prefering only to talk about the good.  I don't want to run a 95% great tourney guys...I want 100%...so tell me what I can do to improve even more.  Methodx told me a few days before the even that everything was great EXCEPT the price of pizza...and I changed it from $2.00 a slice to $1.50.  Please, please, let me know...so I can make things even better than before.

How would everyone feel about a 10:00 start time instead of 11:00

The 11am start time is probably better for those of us who have a large drive to get there, and who do not stay overnight. I've been very happy with the 11am start because it lets me get a decent night's sleep beforehand and then still make it there on time.

And again, great job running Waterbury.

although team goat couldn't go this time for personal reasons, we will be back asap.

11am is a must, there's no way we're making it if it's at 10.

I would love an earlier start.
Combined with expanding the deal on rooms,
more people from a distance could come the night before.
That staying till 2 AM and finishing in a little side room thing was sub-optimal.

I'd likely attend an event that started at 8AM and got over at 8 PM rather than 12 to 12 or 1 to 1, personally. I'm sure I'm the minority here though.

If I can actually get to the tourney in a reasonable amount of time, I like 9-10am-ish starts, too.

I'll cast my vote for earlier starts as well (especially now that I'm moving to Hartford, hehe).

However, I completely sympathize with those coming from NJ, eastern MA, and even Canada.  I wouldn't trade their attendance for getting out a little earlier.

Perhaps if we move the start time up, the tournaments could be held on Sunday again, which would allow people from farther away all of Saturday to get here?

Please don't hold them on Sunday. 90% of people have school/work the next day, and it just turns into a huge hassle. Sunday tournaments are never optimal.

I'd probably prefer the later start time, but neither one is going to make me miss the tournament.
