This is the deck that OWNED my meta game in 6th grade (like 1995 or so).

4 Mons Goblin Raiders
4 Goblin Chirugan
4 Goblin Baloon Brigade
4 Goblin Hero
1 Shivan Dragon

4 Lightning Bolt
4 Incinerate
4 Goblin Grenade
4 Goblin War Drums
4 Goblin Warrens
4 Orcish Oriflamme

20 Mountains

Just a little blast from the past for anyone who started playing magic in junior high and remember this type of deck.  You played goblins.  You attacked, and got pumps from the oriflamme and goblin war drums.  Then you goblin grenaded them,  lightning bolted them and incinerated them.  If you made it to a "late game" You either ran them over with Warrens produced tokens or flew over their head with Shivan Dragon- the scarriest creature of all time.
I know the deck has no competitve potential, but there will always be a place in my heart for the "combo" of Mon's Gobln Raiders and Goblin Grenade.

Hehe, nothing to say besides everybody probably remember their first deck - mine was scarily enough a Stax variant, proxied - I had a headstart into Type1.

Ooh, sixth grade ownage in 1995. That sounds about right for me, too. My first deck, however, was a little different. I'll try to reconstruct it from memory, but I'm not even going to try on the card numbers:

Nightmare (SO GOOD!!!one!)
Pestilence
Terror
Drain Life
Raise Dead (for Nightmare)
Drudge Skeletons (pestilence could do all its damage at once)
A whole bunch of swamps
and probably some other cards that I'm forgetting. Those were the key pieces, though. I probably had something to answer karma/cop black, but then again, maybe I didn't.

I own you all. I used to think that the maximum deck size was 120 (I considered this to be very limiting), and my whole deck was based on getting my one [card]Exalted Dragon[/card] pumped up with enough creature enchantments to kill the opponent all at once. Because I only had about 250 cards total, and played against myself exclusively for years about once a week, I didn't develop any concept of tempo, or using life to trade for time, or creature removal (I saw a Swords to Plowshares for the first time after playing for nearly five years). I have no idea how I stuck with it for so long.

Ha, my first deck was one that tried to abuse Dromar, the Banisher and armadillo cloak.  Needless to say that was only a couple of years ago.  Go Dromar.

While we are reminiscing, my first deck used a [card]Greed[/card]/[card]Mirror Universe[/card] combo.  (It also packed a [card]Pestilence[/card]/[card]Cemetery Gate[/card] combo.)  Oh the days, when you didn't die until end of phase. sigh

My first deck held a vast army of merfolk (of the Vodalian Soldier, River, and Pearl Trident varieties) and their leader, the lord.  Just when my defeat would seem imminent, I would slap down the real Superman:  the "Fat Moti" himself, [card]Mahamoti Djinn[/card].

My first era of Magic was Revised through Homelands.

4 Urza's Tower
4 Urza's Mine
4 Urza's Power Plant
4 Red Mana Battery
4 red fallen empires storage land
4 Mana Flare
1 Fastbond
1 Channel
1 Fork
4 Fireball
4 Disintegrate
...

You see where this is going. I either won with a 120-point Fireball or lost horribly to Blue Elemental Blast. Those were the days.

Jacob, man, my deck seems like a twin to yours.

4 Nightmare
4 Sengir Vampire
4 Demonic Hordes
4 Dark Ritual
4 Lake of the Dead (so good)
4 Hymn to Tourach
4 Drain Life
4 Royal Assassin
4 Icy Manipulator
2 Sorcerress Queen
22 Swamps

Well, I guess just the Nightmares and Drain Life, but God, was it ever fun. Good times. Good thread.

Ah, you had Fallen Empires stuff, and more rares. Mine was all-revised, and much cheaper. I think I did run a Sorceress Queen, now that I think about it--but I never had any royals or icys. Still, definitely good times.

Tech!

Long ago my friend ran a deck that was similar in structure to Razvan's, only he used Nettling Imp (provoke, what!) to set up creature assassinations as well.

That was my first deck.  Psychic Venom + Power Sink = Love.

I still remember my friends setting aside Psychic Venomed lands and never, ever touching them.  2cc blue LD!

Of course I was mad at them when they did.

Counter Prodigal! I'd forgotten that powerful archetype (can I say this witha straight face>?)
By the time of mirage it mine looked like this:

4x Prodigal Sorcerer
4x Zuran Enchanter
4x Suq'Ata Firewalker

4x Counterspell
4x Powersink
4x Force of Will
4x Memory Lapse
4x Arcane Denial (I used this card. Yes, I was not thinking well)
4x Brainstorm (How I knew this was good considering the above mentioned Arcane Denial I do not know.)
4x Howling Mine

Man . . . countering any non creature spells while slaughtering any creatures to hit board with 12 prodigals and killing one ping at a time was so much fun.

My first "good" deck was something along the lines of

16 Islands
1 Tolarian Academy

4 Counterspell
4 Spell Blast
4 Power Sink
4 Remove Soul, later Exclude

4 Millstone
1 Jester's Cap
4 Reconstruction
4 Reef Pirates

4 Merseine (look it up, its OK)
4 Wall of Vapor
2 Denying Winds
1 Polar Kracken
1 Morphling

And a bunch of other random crap, ranging from Rayne, Academy Cancellor to Thran Golem.  Yeah, I bought that precon, so?

Cards I had never heard of:  Mana Leak, Force of Will, any card draw, and the random Morphling is there because I cracked one in a starter of Saga, along with the Academy.

My first good deck was something like this. It's not the actual original version of the deck. I had to wait for Mirage/Visions/Weatherlight for it to really be a force to be reckoned with. It's not a particularly sophisticated deck, but since casual circuits tend to be aggro heavy, a deck that kills an opponent's good creatures then reanimates them is tech.

Creatures (19)
4 Scathe Zombies
4 Gangrenous Zombies
4 Nekretaal
3 Gravebane Zombies
2 Zombie Master
2 Bone Dancer

Spells (19)
4 Animate Dead
4 Necromancy
4 Fatal Blow
3 Raise Dead
2 Dark Ritual
2 Dark Banishing

Land (22)
22 Snow-Covered Swamp

My first ever deck was a revised starter, and I won some with that. I eventually upgraded the deck using a second starter, then some boosters. Eventually, after buying enough cards I managed to cut the deck down to 3 colours (Gbw).

Finally after buying enough Dark to get 4 gaea's touches I managed to get the deck down to mono G.

4 force of nature
4 gaea's liege
4 timber wolves
4 elvish archers
4 aspect of wolf
4 web
4 gaea's touch
4 llanowar elves
4 birds of paradise
4 giant growth
20 forest

Power.

the best deck I ever played was a R/W repercussion deck with crater hellions and furnace of rath and remembrance???? (I am not sure what I was thinking)  it also played flicker and some other cool stuff that was rare along with Aether Charge.

My very first deck was stompy-esque with boas and orges and elephants and, get this, blosoming wreath.  That was tech against burn decks and black decks with 100 creature removal spells.  I also played the harvest wurm and elves (birds had no power, so they were obviously inferior).

I tried to splash colors, but that was a mistake;  especially black (for swamp walk).

I ran a white weenie deck with Jihad and Army of Allah. I vaguely remember playing Sheharazad before I got too bored of that card when people wouldn't play me after a while.

I quit for a long while and when I started back up I built a nasty Squirrel Prison deck.
