Mods: Please let this stay here a day or two as I need to have this seem by lots of people. Although I understand if you need to move it.
Hello I will be in Vienna for a year and was wondering if there would be any T1 tournaments near Vienna.
I know there are big ones in dulmen, and eindoveh but they are a hell of a drive or train ride.
I am very excited to play magic internationally.

@ Jazzykat
I have looked around many times while in Vienna (I was there 5 times in the last 8 months), and I didn't find anything.
Let me know if you find anything however. I might even just send you a mail next time before I go over to just have some beers and playtest.
Cheers, Tetre

OK cool. I am a stupid american and of course don't know much/any Austrian. Will I get by if I play in English, or do I have to be semi fluent(I am working on it) in Austrian.
Also, this is in Vienna right? The map they provided is too small a scale for me to figure out what city it is in.
Thanks, Jazzy,
I should be able to make it to the July tournament, as long as it is on the weekend, or in Vienna on a week night after work.

You should be able to beat most of the scrubs without talking too much and I suppose the skilled players all are okay with speaking english (or how would they read TMD?). And yeah, it's in Vienna alright. Btw, we talk German here. There's no language as "Austrian". I also can try some Slovak on you ... not sure that'll be of much help, though There's a T1 tournament each month, always Friday 16:00 (it does tend to begin half an hour later, though). There's also a monthly T1.5 tournament, als on a friday, 16:00.

OK, I stand corrected, you speak german, although I had a few Austrian friends who insisted that they didn't speak german (they told me they spoke austrian! I guess they were very proud of their country, or were joking and I never got it). As I understand it, there are dialectical differences, moving onward...
Thanks for the reply and I will see everyone in July or August (provided I can get out of work early enough: I don't know when my job lets out). I am also hoping to attend a few Eindhoven or Dulmen tourneys.
Oh and while I learned a little czech, slovak(even though they seem closely related) will not work :B
Cheers!
PS: No proxies right?

As I understand it, there are dialectical differences, moving onward... Actually, there is no German language at all. It's just a group of dialects that are called German. (I study german lunguistics ...) So I guess noone's right. Oh and while I learned a little czech, slovak(even though they seem closely related) will not work :B They are actually very closely related. I should be able understand what you're trying to say to me in Czech ... but I suppose English would be much easier.

OK...got more info on my work schedule. I get out of work at 16:00. I assume that like all tournaments I have ever been to that they start late? I will be coming directly from the VIC so I will hopefully get there in time. Also are there deck reg sheets I can fill out ahead of time?
Thanks, Francesco

Some old VA from BD/TMD1 called BigBlue online was from Vienna IIRC. If someone has his contact info, I'm sure it's helpful for jazzykat. In any case: if you need a place to stay for Eindhoven, or maybe Duelmen (pending on wether we are going and have an open seat in the car :p), you can contact me, and I will provide

I will be coming directly from the VIC so I will hopefully get there in time. Also are there deck reg sheets I can fill out ahead of time? You generally don't need any registration sheet, just a written decklist and a DCI number. The official start of T1 tournaments is 16:00 but usually they start thirty to forty-five minutes later - depending on the number of players. So unfortunately, you can't tell before you arrive. I can find that out for you how often that is, though. I'll edit it in here in a few days. And yeah, no proxies (which sucks).

Hi, I´m a regular T1 Player in Vienna. I´m looking forward to playing against you *g* The T1 tourneys normally don´t start before 16:30 as another regular T1 player is not able to make it earlier and we wait for him before we start the tourney. But if you want to attend a tourney and know that you won´t make it before let´s say 16:45 just drop me a message then (ICQ: 150583209) and I will tell the store owner to wait for you. That´s no problem. As for the metagame: Our metagame is getting healthier and healthier as more people are trying to get power and also the budget decks are getting better (so fear the Null Rods *g*). We had a hard time getting players to attend the Vinatage tourneys but now we regularly have between 15-25 players (normally 20+) so there is a bit of competition in 5 rounds. We don´t have a Top8 cut and there are no proxies allowed. The starting fee is 4 €. Just take a look at www.morphling.de, from April on our T8 results are posted there. So you can see that we have quite a few tuned decks (surely taken from TMD *g*) lurking around. If you have any question just drop me a message...

Well since this is the community forum and now I am physically part of the viennese community, I wanted to say hellow to everyone at the magic corner I met yesterday.
BTW: I wore a red shirt and tan pants, I was one of the only "old" dudes there and I was speaking English.
Anyway, it was super meeting you fellows and I will most definitely attempt making the next t1 tourney and maybe 1.5 with OMG: Landstill *gasp* I have to remind you guys that I just don't get out of work early enough to start at 4 usually.
Anyway, I talked to one person who talked about a five proxy tournament and would like him to PM me because my appartment has a little space and I really like 5 proxy tourneys...maybe we can organize a small one?
