Does anyone know of a good health insurance you get in the US and works when you leave the country?

If so please throw up a link.

Don't most health insurance plans have clauses covering vacation catastrophes? Or are you talking about "works if I move to another country where the President isn't a goddamn fundamentalist monkeybot"?

When I travled to Europe last summer - I was able to purchase insurance through my travel agency.  It covered not only my medical coverage (which I didnt use) but the small chance that my plane flights would be delayed and such...

So, I would say to check with your travel agent if your current insurance provider does not cover it.

YesI am going to work in Austria for a year, for a US company as a private contracter so I have to buy US insurance so I am covered before I get there.

Vacation stuff, won't work in this scenario but it is a good try!

Cheers.

Sometimes credit card companies (AmEx comes to mind) provide traveller's insurance as well at no cost. I know that even basic AmEx users have travel car insurance. You might find that you have coverage in the most unlikely of places!

Join the military. I am stationed in Spain, and I still have insurance.

This is meant completely tongue in cheek.
