It is the start of my opponents main phase.  My opponent casts Crucible of the Worlds and in response I cunning Wish for Oxidize.  Both spells resolve.  I then cast oxidize destroying crucible.  My opponent claimed that he has the option of playing strip mine in his graveyard before Crucible is destroyed.  I disagreed saying that I have priority when casting Oxidize and that lands cannot be played as instants on the stack.

Was I right with my claim?  Or did my opponent have an opportunity to play strip mine before Crucible is destroyed?  How do land drops interact with the exchange of priorities?  Can lands be played as soon as Crucible resolves?

Thanks in advance.

You are incorrect.

After a spell/ability resolves, the Active Player gets prioirty again.

After Crucible resolves, the Active Player has priority.  You do not get priority unitl the Active Player passess priority to you, so you cannot play Oxidize until this is done.

Since they get priority after Crucible resolves, they may play a land before you can do anything.

If he passess after playing Crucible (which would mean he wants to go to the next phase) you get prioirty and may play the Oxidize.  He won't be able to play a land now, as the stack is no longer empty.
