The rules for this competition will be: Anything Goes! Banned list: Portal Unglued Black Lotus Mesmeric Fiend Blackmail Chain of Smog Hymn to Tourach Cabal Therapy Encroach Mind Swords Forget Anvil of Bogarden Strip Mine Wasteland Raze The Rack Wheel of Torture Balance Meddling Mage Show and Tell Isochron Scepter Phrexian Dreadnaught Lion's Eye Diamond Evil Presence Sea's Claim NB this is subject to change within 48hrs of first posting.
What is 3cb?
3-Card Blind (3CB) is a very unique game. The rules are as follows
Your deck is composed of 3 cards, all of which start in your hand. You have no library (technically, the library exists, but starts at 0 cards) and no sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing). Random effects always go in your opponent's favour. You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play. You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card. You will play each opponent twice, once going first, once going second. For each win, you score 3. For each draw, you score 1. For each lose, you get nothing. Other than the aforementioned, EVERYTHING IS HANDLED EXACTLY LIKE A REAL GAME OF MAGIC! To make an entry, PM your deck to me in the following format: Subject: 3cb Tournament #34 Entry or 3cb Tournament#34 Revision Deck Name Card #1 Card #2 Card #3 Optional Deck discussion, random sucking up, etc. I will calculate the first 20 entrants who I receive, or I'll close entries after a week. Get your entries in by 17th June and I'll calculate. As I said, the banned list may change within 48 hours of this post going up. After that, it stays as it is. This is not a reason to withold your decks, though - this is not a particuarly serious format! If something's broke, please fix it whilst we can! From now on, once a tournament finishes, unless I post otherwise (for example to discuss a potential ban), each tournament will start immediately after the results of the previous one is posted. I assume that this is OK with everyone - if not, then let me know, either by PM or by posting here. The banned list is currently unchanged from the last tournament, and is so far likely to stay that way. 5th Dawn is still illegal. Tom

It's time for me to come back and rebalance the metagame. Things have been getting all out of whack.

At least this time we've got a metagame. The last tourney was the first one for ages that was all T1 cards.

Come on people, we've had Jacob and a former Eindhoven Champ entering, no less, but I've still only got 7 entries! I'm still waiting for Kowal to try to defend his title, amongst other entries... Tom

It's time to remind the young'ns what REAL 3CB decks look like.

That's because we're all FAR too sophisticated to do old-school decks.
Or that you're the only one around now who actually used to enter them and still does. Seriously - what's happened to all the old players? Didn't MoreFling used to play? And a load of others? SOME people had to keep it going on the old boards...

Not sure how long virtual, r_x_, xrizzo and I have been playing for - I've been in since about last september or so (so about the last 20 tournaments, I think), but I think Xrizzo and virtual are true veterans at this. If memory serves, Tenebrozo was around way back as well, although none are as ancient as Jacob, the only entrant in both the first and the soon-to-be-last 3CB tournaments (I think). Some of the old players still enter though - we had Kowal last time and Morefling and Jacob this time (although still not a squeak from Kowal yet). Uhmmm 1 avannah lions 1 swords to plowshares 1 plains Read the instructions... it's says to PM me the deck entry - the point is that no-one knows any of the other decks, you have to just make an educated guess. I'll enter it for now, but PM in future. Tom

Man, it's been a while since I've been in the TCB scene. I'm so happy to have gotten Raze banned. Let's see if my magic works as it's done before and I'll just come out of no where and win the whole thing.
Now alls I need to do is think of a deck.

I am back in this time. I wish I wouldn't have missed last time becuase T1 cards were opened back up again... Lets see if my uber tech works this time... *again, thanks to wonkey, virtual, zoneseek, and one other early 3CB admin... without you guys, we wouldn't have this format!

Read the original post. It gives a deadline then. 2. It wasn't Tom's idea, but I'm sure he appreciates the sentiment.

. If memory serves, Tenebrozo was around way back as well, although none are as ancient as Jacob, the only entrant in both the first and the soon-to-be-last 3CB tournaments (I think). That would be a shame. I've been busy, but I still enjoy this format. If you're burning out, perhaps someone else can do it?

Nonono, not what I meant at all - although re-reading it, a more than forgivable misinterpretation! Sorry everyone who read it that way. I meant the latest, rather than the last - it's just that the last sounded more impressive when writing it! I wasn't trying to say that the whole thing's finishing. Sorry, my bad. 3CB will continue weekly as promised. Tom
