Changes:
Simpliefed things and made everything much clearer with the basic idea, Matt

Name change

Changed to in play so can't pitch to force

Not exactly sure what these are good for, they were made for the coolness of the concept rather than filling any particular purpose.
They are worse than basic lands in that they are blast vulnerable to color hosers (red blast your land, hibernation your whole board, etc) but there are occasions where a color can be a boon. Certainly not being a basic land is a big draw back since you can be waste landed, btbed ect. And they don’t get around standard hate since you lose all your Peaceful Plains to flashfires. I think the power level is low enough to be fair.

The main reason for these is the coolness of being able to play a black deck where every single permanent really is black or other things like that.

I like this, but wwould be easier/better/less confusing to just make these basics?

Yeah, Matt has a good point.

I guess these aren't strictly better than a basic land, but they certainly would make Coalition Victory that much easier to achieve!

Can I do that? What lets you make a deck with all snow covered forests, is it the fact that they are basics or is there some special rules text that allows it? If all that’s needed is to make these basic then I think you are right and it would be far better /simpler with less card text to do that.

You can have as many snow-covered lands in your deck as you want because they are Basic Lands.

They just also happen to have the Snow-covered ability and a slightly different name from regular basic lands.

Also, as cute as the alliteration is, I think the names could use some work.

Implemented the basics idea

You are right about the names; illusionary island, peaceful plains, and molten mountain are all fairly low quality. I think it might be good to have the land types (forest plains etc) be part of the name to remind people that they are basic and are the same as normal lands but with color, but the adjectives should probably change. I’m fine with dropping the alliterations as well. Anyone have any cool name ideas? This is generally where I’m weakest.

If I keep the alliterations Pacified plains is much better than peaceful because of its military and order connotations.

Well, you could follow in the tradition of the snow-covered lands, and have a single adjective for all 5 + the basic land name. That might actually be more work than 5 separate names, but it'd be worth it.

hmm, thats a good idea. How about something like

Ideal Plains
Ideal Swamp
Ideal Mountain
Ideal Forest
Ideal Island

since the lands represent their own colors they are the ideal archetypes of lands.

If I thought it wouldn’t be overly wordy I’d have tried to use quintessential, but I think ideal captures that idea in a more acceptable way.

Rules question regarding these lands: Can they be pitched to spells (such as Force of Will, Misdirection, Unmask, etc.)?

If so, would this make them too strong?

Other than that, I think this is a really interesting concept.

Yeah, now that b4r0n brings that up, it seems that the blue one in particular is dangerous. I don't know if having stuff to pitch to Force of Will and Misdirection is worth giving up dual lands, but perhaps it would be best if these were ordinary non-basics, with the 4-card restriction that comes therewith.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

Change the CSA a bit to keep it non-pitchable.

"As long as ~this~ is in play, it is ~color~."

yeah, its a bit less clean but it might be safer.
Although I doubt that all island mono blue with 53 blue cards is going to be better than something with yawg will, its probably better to be safe than sorry.  So I'll change it to while this is in play it is blue.
