Nice little article.  Although I would have prefered the opening game description and player quote be something like this instead:

..Daniel knew he was going to win when he drew his Yawgmoth's Will..."I played Lotus, sacked it for BBB, played a DR and resolved the Will which allowed me to replay my Lotus, the Ritual, and a D Tutor from the Yard.  I searched for a B Wish, tapped my Jet and played ToA from the Board for the win.  My opponent was PWNED, but hey, Broken things happen in MTG."

The article was mediocre at best, and is obviously not intended for people that play magic.  I almost feel like it was some attempt to show how 'good' hasbro is for offering scholarships and prize money.  However, I consider any article that brings magic to the rest of the public to be good.  It didn't use any examples that would be to confusing to general people.

I don't think the general public would know what we mean when we say "broken" or "pwned" Very Happy

I was obviously joking.

But, I agree with you any article that is positive about MTG is healthy.

You expect it to be a good article for Magic players from a newspaper?  Most people who read the newspaper haven't even heard of this game, these are the type of articles that you show your parents when your a junior.  Thats what I did with articles in the past which got my parents to understand where i'm coming from.

While the article was so-so I like the fact that our game was acknowledged.  I also would like to thank Hasbro for giving me $2,000 dollors in scholorships so far.  Placing 22 at the Juniors Champs is such tech.  To bad the format wasn't Type 1.  Kansas City did have a nice Mox Tourny over the weekend but I couldn't play due to the Juniors.  I heard a guy won with affinity(Not sure what the metagame was like)  There were sanctioned Vintage tournies all weekend and I piloted Germbus to some draft sets.  It was good that Type 1 made it way there.

I'm psychic!

Aside from a few capitalization of cardnames, it was a pretty good article. It's never bad to have someone talk about Magic in a positive light.

What, did like people expect an article to specifically fellate Type 1 or something?

Yeah Razz

under the light in my room they reflected badly, but Sheldon said that they would be fine in the florescent lighting of the tournament area :s

my mom wanted a judge to interview, so i suggested Sheldon Menery. She had a section with a bunch of quotes from him in it, but her editors cut it out as well as a lot of other stuff because they didn't give her that much space for the article...

I wish my parents supported me like that for Magic... They laughed when I wanted to go to SA with a few friends for Nats last year...They finally gave me SOME respect when they saw an article in the paper on my friend that went 10th at Nats.  Thissa, you got a kick ass mom Smile

It's good exposure, and that is a good thing.  If you look at any other press external to the community you'd think we were stealing children and making satan smile.  It's paper thin because that what they want to write, the point is the tone, which is positive.
