We only had a turnout of 16, but competing with origins is not an easy task. There were a mixture of decks, including GAT, 10 land stompy, multiple sui black, FCG, Dragon, fish, and some rogue stuff.

A Brief synpsis of my matchups with Dragon:

Round 1: 10 land stompy 2-1

I go first, play bazaar, pitch a dragon and play a jet, have a dark ritual in my hand. My opponent drops a rogue elephant and a ghazban Ogre. All I gotta do is find an animate spell in 4 turns. I fail to do so.

Games two and three I combo by turn 3. Good times

Round 2: GAT 2-0

I LOVE DURESS. It wins me game one on turn 3.

Game two I barely escape a vicious fate at the hands of two dryads, if my opponent would have drawn less land and I would have drawn one less animate spell I would have died the turn after I combo. Sorry Paul, that always happens to you.

Round 3: Fish 2-0

I LOVE DURESS EVEN MORE. Game one: My opponent brainstorms in response, hides his counterspells and shows me some creatures, so I combo.

Game two becomes a beatfest. Deed stumps his creatures and his lands get me to five before they have to worry about VERDANT FORCE and his little token buddies. The games ends when my opponent actually has no cards in his hand and I rip an animate spell off the top of my deck. He is at 4 and I am at 5, what a great time to combo.

Round 4: Strange Sui 2-0

I get concerned when game one I duress and in my opponent's hand is an animate dead. Fortunately he makes me discard a dragon off a specter and I necromancy during his endstep.

Game two I combo second turn. All is well.

Top 4: Sui 2-0

I was really concerned about this match. Fortunately I stole game one with a ritual and a buried alive after getting my bazaar stripped. Game two was a relief as I realized he has no sideboard hate and no maindeck edicts. Dragon wins.

Top 2: FCG 0-2

I mulligan for the first time of the day in game one. To 5. He combos second turn. I am one mana from comboing first.

Game two: Mulligan to 5 again. OUCH. Turn one: bazaar, pitch a dragon. His turn one, wasteland , my bazaar drop tormods cypt. I animate, he rips my graveyard. I have an entomb and an animate spell but one too few mana to play both, he deals lethal damage turn 4.

All in all I was dissapointed to see my opponent walk away with a berserk, volcanic and some packs and settle for a bayou and a pile o packs. I later offed the packs to some kids by my house, bought dinner and called it a day.

Thanks to everyone who showed, hope they do it again (I hear talk of a bazaar for the next one...)

Well, I think the reason for a lack of blue in the Top 4 was that I was one of two there playing FoW, and I narrowly missed Top 4 on tiebreakers... grrr so close. I was playing the Gay/r fish deck mentioned in the list of decks present. My only loss was the the Dragon deck, and I actually beat the FCG, but my tiebreakers were horrible and I lost at least one game in every match I played =/ suxxors. It was a really fun tournament, and there should be another one around the end of July... we'll post it here when it's announced. It will be the awesomeness.

Peace

I think we avoided about 15 accidents on our way in and out by a very narrow margin. I had no fear, but I think Angel was developing a complex about it.

Not wanting to be picky or anything, but is the FCG deck supposed to have 2 strips in the side aswell as one main.

Me: Counterspell
n00b: Can I take that back?

You know I didnt notice that when he sent me the list. I really dont know what all he had, I just know he sided in two crypts against me.

Of sixteen decks only two of them had FOW... the fish deck and GAT, and I beat them both with dragon. Good times.

Thanks again ANGEL for the awesome ancestral recall. It makes my dragons happy.

All the blue players were at Origins.  In my first tourney, I played against mono blue Control, and then 'tog the rest of the night.  On Saturday, I played 2 'togs and 2 Miracle Grows (and a Sui black thrown in for good measure).

Sorry about the stripmine attrocity in my sideboard, replace all instances of stripmine (in the SB) with [card]Null Rod[/card], thats what I had.
I was in a rush to send out the decklist because I was supposed to be somewhere soo, a bit rushed in all.  I'll try to double check it in the future.
