I was thinking today about how SCG is offering a power 9 purse at their next event and wished the price of power/mana drains hadnt gone up so much in the past year, because I was afraid I might have to raise my admisssion just to cover the increase in the cost of prizes. When I looked(because I might just go) at the SCG info page, it makes sense. The cost is $30. This is fair, and makes me understand how SCG could offer such sweet ass sweet prizes.

Which makes me wonder what people think.

Based on the drastic increase in the cost of power and other prizes like mana drains, what should happen:

I was once asked on MWS, what the highest I ever finished at a TMD Open was.  I replied, "I've never played in a Waterbury.  I was then called "A TOTAL NOOB!"

I don't mind paying extra to get the prize updated.  I chose the $25 since not only is it for a good cause but these are the sweetest NE tournies and more prizes is awesome.

I voted for $20 because, as klown pointed out in the open t1 forum, the extra 5$ to make it 25 would scare away alot of the lesser t1 players, who are essential for boosting the attendance of these things and giving us good cannon fodder to beat up on. Ray most definately does hold the schweetest parties in all of NE when it comes to magic, but a raise in 10$ might make people turn their backs.

Personally I believe that whatever Ray comes up with prevails. he has held waterbury tournies a numerous amount of times, and having been to a good number of them, I have yet to walk away with a bad experience.

I think another good idea for t8 prizes *could* be playmats; these things are kool, not terribly expensive, and will last you the rest of your mtg career as a reminder of some special day. Plus people from the tourny can sign em and draw kool shit on them.

Also as a little of topic, when will the next Waterbury be?  Or is there going to be a poll.  I am looking forward to the next one.

I voted 15, I'm thinking the cheaper it is, the more people will go, but then again that ISSS what this poll is for hey?  Well I think top 4 getting power is fine for 15, it's reasonable, and is more rewarding to get into the top 4, thats just my opinion

I vote $25

Larger pay out prizes motivate me.
Also the 3 hour drive down there, might as well make it worth the trip.
