Registration: $12(this is still approximate, I'll get back if it changes)
Prizes:

1st - Mox Sapphire (tentative, but this is the least we'll have)
2nd - BB Dual OR English Mana Drain
3rd - Whatever 2nd doesn't take
4th-8th - TBA

10 Proxies (may go up to 15)

So...who can we expect to show? Is the date a problem? I'll post the start time when I have it, though I'd guess either 12:00 or 1:00 pm.

I'm really looking foward to meeting some of you guys in person. That would be, as Carl says, Awesome Sauce.

If you need directions, PM me or ask here. I'll be in Europe for the next two weeks, so it'll take at least that long to respond.

I should be completely moved in to Pittsburgh by August 14th, and as long as other things don't get in the way I'll try to make it to this!!

Can you post a street address? Is this at the store in Munhall?

It's run by that store, but the building itself isn't big enough to hold more than 10 or 15 people. We're looking into renting a hall, which is why the address isn't posted yet.

This event is so far away... I can't think that far ahead. I will probably make the trip, though.

Good deal, I just moved to Squirrel Hill and I think I'll be back from my honeymoon just in the nick of time to get my cards out of storage and throw my hat into the ring.

Ok - here's the conundrum:

We can keep the current prize structure:

1st - Mox Sapphire
2nd - BB Volcanic Island
3rd - English Mana Drain
4th - Italian Mana Drain

5th-8th - 2 packs Mirrodin, 2 packs Darksteel, 2 packs Fifth Dawn

9th-16th - Choice of 1 Pack from Mirrodin block.

Top Player 16 and under: 2 Force of Will

Looks good, right?

But keeping this requires increasing the entry fee to $25. Would there be a problem with doing this, or would it be better to reduce the value of the prizes. I wanted to put this out in the open so it could be discussed and we could make the descision based on what you folks want.

If the prize value was reduced, what would it look like then? Would first place still get a Sapphire?

That is a pretty good prize structure though so I'd be willing to pay what's necessary, or something similar anyway, to keep it at that.

Yeah, that's a very nice setup--top 4 = winners in a big way. You could probably drop the packs, though.

First is a Sapphire, unless attendance is < 25 (which I'm 100% sure it won't be). We've decided to swap out the Volc for a Beta Wheel. That's the only change in the prize structure, which is final at this point.

I sure hope I didn't (and I have no idea why I would've). It's the 28th. Sorry.

*bump*

It would be cool to where this tournament is actually taking place...has it been determined yet?

The building they were looking at contained a massage parlor that was of the shady variety and it was closed down.  The organizers are unsure at this time if the tournament will still happen, and if it does, where.

Damn, sounds like we missed the chance for an extra-special tournament.

Any word out there of a new location yet?

The tournament is back on. Apparently the organizer found another place to hold it or was assured that his store would be available. I'm about ready to strangle him if he doesn't give me an address, though. I'll try to have it by tomorrow, but it will be up here Saturday at the latest.

EDIT: The address is 430 Lebanon Rd West Mifflin, PA 15122-1024.

Also - everything is tentative pending the results of an investigation. The results will be out by Saturday, according to the organizer. Then we'll know 100% what's going on.

Alright, here's the final info:

http://www.jahinie.com/The%20shop.htm

Doors open at 12:00 noon - The pre-reg is just to get a guess at how many are coming. It's not mandatory.

The number of rounds depends on attendance, and we're expecting about 40 people as of right now.

If enough people show interest in a T4 event, we'll have the cards there to run a few tables.

If you have any more questions, e-mail me or post here.

Are those prices ($25 pre-reg/$30 at the door) accurate?

If they are, my next question may be moot, but is there any word about judging?

The prices are accurate. As for judging - we're trying to get a certified judge, but if we don't and there's still concern, I can judge and not play.

Would anyone in the Pittsburgh area be up for meeting up and playing T1 somewhere/sometime this weekend? I live in Shadyside.

I'll be in Shadyside on Saturday morning. Care to meet at the Panera across from First United Methodist Church around noon-ish?

Get a room, you two. Or take this to PMs. :P

For unsanctioned tournaments, the three (or more!) judge system works fine. You just need at least three "judges" who are playing in the event.

Any objection to me stopping by?  I'm fairly certain I'm free this Saturday and I'm not too far away in Squirrel Hill.

Ok, I need a roll call of all the TMD'ers who are planning on coming to this. Apparently Richard Garfield is at the PGH Rennisance Festival organizing a tournament for a piece of magic artwork. I'm trying to see if we can still get a reasonable number of people coming to this, since a few people have already asked for refunds of their pre-reg money.

Unless something comes up I'll probably be there. I'll wait to preregister until tomorrow or Wednesay though just to make sure things are clear.

Someone I talked to told me the beta dual and Mana Drains are no longer part of the prize structure. Is anything up for grabs besides the Mox Sapphire?

The Drains are tough to get. What we know is up consists of a Wheel of Fortune and a BB Dual. There will be something good for 4th - likely another BB Dual.
