I was wondering if Sundering Titan could choose the same land twice when asked to choose different land types. The reason I ask is because cards like Firestorm do not allow you to choose the same creature or player twice. What's the difference here?

'Choose' is not the same as 'target'.

You can choose the same Volcanic Island as both your 'island' choice and your 'mountain' choice for Sundering Titan.
