At C & J's, there were `19 players, many fully powered.

SlapJack is my personal build using Auriok Salvagers, Black Lotus for infinite mana, and Pyrite Spellbomb for the win. (SlapJack! like the kids game, Lotus in the yard, Lotus in hand, Lotus in play, repeat.)

Top 6
1) SlapJack- LotusHead's Auriok Salvagers Combo/Control deck
2) Christian's Trinistax
3) Max's Academy deck
4) Dennis's Rogue TnT type deck
5) Jeff's Rouge Crucible/ZuronOrb/Exploration thing.
6) TheLegendOfMagic- Control Slaver

SlapJack's build is identical to the last few reports, but substituting Rebuild for Hurkyl's Recall in the sideboard (Will edit in actual decklist later).

Edit: Decklist

Land:
4 Tundra
2 Underground Sea
1 Volcanic Islan
1 Tolarian Academy (Just so you can't play yours...till you waste mine...)
4 Flooded Strain

Broken Mana
5 Moxen
1 Black Lotus
1 Sol Ring
1 Mana Crypt
1 Lion's Eye Diamond

Combo Critters
4 Auriok Salvagers
4 Trinket Mages

Draw/Search
4 Brainstorm
2 Cunning Wish
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Enlightened Tutor (yes!)
1 Demonic Tutor
2 Intuition
1 Time Twister (Still love ya baby...)

CounterSpells
4 Force of Wills
2 Ertai's Meddling (Instead of 2 non-existant Drains)
2 Mana Drains (these exist)
1 Misdirection

Utility/Kill
2 AEther Spellbombs
1 Pyrite Spellbomb
1 Chromatic Sphere
1 Gorilla Shaman (Where were you today???)
1 Engineered Explosives
2 Seal of Cleansing (F-you Fish!)

SideBoard
1 REB
1 Sacred Ground
1 Seal of Cleansing
1 Entomb (used today for 1st time. Yes!)
1 Echoing Trush (never shall you leave this board...)
1 Stifle
1 Rebuild (yes! My artifacts are CHEAP!!!)
1 Shallow Grave
1 Chain of Vapors
1 BEB
1 Swords to Plowshares
1 Ebony Charm
1 Orim's Thunder
1 Brain Freeze
1 Misdirection

End Edit

Round 1: Joshua (age 13 or so. It's his first time here) playing Zombies.

SlapJack 2-0 in 2 minutes. On to casual games with little Joshua's Zombies against my Grow-A-Thopt Mirroden Block Deck.

Round 2: Christian playing Trinistax. I get paired down to Christian who drew round 1 with Jeff.  Lucky me. It was intense.  Christian is a very good player, but Jeff's Superman and Maze of Ith kept Trinistax at bay somehow.

Game 1: Christian wins the die roll and goes broken with Trinsphere.  Well, maybe not broken.  He did mull into that hand, but that is what his deck is supposed to do.  My moxes sit quietly in my broken hand until the Strips/Crucibles make me scoop.

Game 2: I go first, go broken with land, mox, mox, maybe Trinket Mage=>Black Lotus. I think I combo out on Turn 2, but may have had to wait until turn 3.  SlapJack! Broken!

Game 3: Christian plays lots of broken stuff for the first few turns, as do I.  But he doesn't play anything that makes me automatically scoop.  When his deck does get running, he has 2 Welders in play( which I later waste with my Explosives), a Wasteland/Crucible happening and eventually double Tangle Wires for 6 or 7 or so.  During my upkeep, I tap my Island and some moxen to Rebuild the board, draw my cards, play them (and more Moxen from my hand), and then play Time Twister to get his crap out of his yard and my 4  early Force of Wills back in my deck.

Eventually time is called and we play on.  I think he cracks Memory Jar through Tinker, and I am excited to see lots of cool answers in my hand.  Those answers brough my attention to my Time Twister that was not in the yard anymore.  I shuffled it accidentally back into my deck a few turns ago.  We had about 2 turns each to go.

I do not think he could kill me in that time (he MIGHT have been able to kill me, but I do not think so). I point out my error with Time Twister and give him the option of calling me a damn cheater (just kidding) and getting the win, or just forgiving me and playing on.  Due to his first experience against SlapJack playing 4cc under similar circumstances (the game is at stake, any error=death), he took the win. Christian wins 2-1.

Round 3: Joe with FFFFFIIIIIIISSSSSSHHHHHHH.

Game 1: Joe stomps on me. His lucky Stifle takes out my Lotus and his Lucky Crucible makes his Wastelands WAY broken. I die.

He conceeds the rest of the match because he has to go.  He does however, have time to play one game for fun.  This means SlapJack goes broken on him.  Why? Cuz it's just for fun.  Joe's deck NEVER looses when it matters.  Only if it doesn't matter.  I get a 2-1 win due to his concession, but it WOULD HAVE been 1-1-? had he stayed. So there!

Round 4: Jeff with his RogueZorbsclerationCrucibleFi shStill deck.

Game 1 and 2: SlapJack goes broken.  He has heard of this deck, but until you see it in action, there's no knowing WHAT will happen. On game 2, I bait a Demonic Tutor which he drains.  He has Force in his hand due to regrowth, but with Salvagers in play, I will just recur again and again. SlapJack 2-0

Round 5: Max playing an Academy deck.

Max was undefeated at this point, so I thought that no matter how well I did, that I would at best take 2nd or 3rd place.  Combo vs Combo. What will happen?

Game 1: SlapJack goes broken due to his playing Helm of Awakening (Thanks, pal!).

Game 2: We fight a counter war over an Abayance.  He had poped a Memory Jar and I brainstomed a Force and Intuition earlier to my top deck  for the impending Jar (He was in topdeck mode, at that point).

I Ertai's Meddling on his Frantic Search (probably a mistake on my part) and we fight more counter wars. I eventually Misdirected his Abayence to him and took my two free turns from his two Meditates.

Trinket Mages walk in for the beats as my Anti-Fish tech takes out his Candelabrae (and hence GlimmerVoid). I win 2-0.

When the computer finished compiling data, LotusHead's SlapJack placed 1st, Christian's Team Meandeck Trini$t4CKS placed 2nd and Max's Academy placed 3rd. All of us got 12 points in the Swiss rounds, but as SlapJack beat the only undefeated player (Max) and of course won against Timmy's Zombies round 1, SlapJack gets 1st!

I win a 2nd DCI Foil Serum Visions (Yay!), a DCI non-foil Swamp (now marked in red ink as my Victory Swamp) and an Arena Lifecounter thingy. Want to trade for it?

Props to  Christian's Matchups for always providing lots of great drama (Maybe you should throw in that Karn for the Time Limit thing)

Props to Dennis for always being up to a game with his Rogue decks

Props to my buddy Ted (the goth kid) for now knowing what it's like to get anally raped by homosexual decks, even though Ted's Elf Deck has 4 non basic lands and 1 artifact.

Slops to Joe's Gay Ass Fish Deck that only gets Null Rods/Stifle/Crucible/FoWBackup on its opening hand when playing against SlapJack in games that count.

Slops to the good slew of good players who chose to just be bystanders at C&J's when they too have full decks of power.  I'M CALLING YOU GUYS OUT!!!! You want some??? SlapJack does!!!  (body flinching motions here...)

Stifle does nothing to stop mana abilities - just like it says on the card.

I believe that Lotushead was referring to his Lotus being denied by stifling the Salvagers ability (no Salvagers no Lotus...)   Wink

Joe Stifled SOMETHING, although Fetchlands are about the only other thing Stifleable in my deck. Maybe Seal.

I think it WAS Black Lotus! Argh!

My Salvagers never saw the board game 1.  If they did, Fish would be dead! D-E-D. Dead. 2/4 meat is too much for Fish. Smile

As Fish is my problem matchup (0-7 in tourney games), I look forward to meeting it again and again.  Fish won't go away, but neither will SlapJack.

has c&j's fallen on hard times? they used to boast of at least 20 fully powered players weekly what happened?

i loved reading the tournament reports even the ones with abm. speaking of abm.. did that deck not also originate from northern california? I must say you guys are truly the creators of all the streamline decks of type one. abm, bitchslappedjack, and soon fiery gambit.dec. how will we deal? now I'm reading about some "chunk" serving players playing zombies... how the mighty have fallen.

ugh, here we go...

well I've touched on the zombie matchup. round 2 guessing christian is zhalfirin. a real player = loss. round 3 fish. loss, oops I mean his ride came, WIN! way to go. on to round 4 roguezorbsclerationcruciblefi shstill, mmmkay? Round 5, academy... still played? doesn't that deck stall out in a quarter+ of it's games?

Ted (the goth kid) for now knowing what it's like to get anally raped by homosexual decks
that is what the zombie player was probably thinking after round 1.

Quote from: bitchslappedjack's main man
Slops to Joe's Gay Ass Fish Deck
Props to his ride.

I'M CALLING YOU GUYS OUT!!!!
...for a date.

how does a combo deck relying on a four casting cost creature and graveyard recur fair against 'good' decks? the one round you faced you lost.

on a different note i can't wait for TheLegendOf(suckat)Magic's tournament report!

To Bloody Clown Suit:

Your post seems close to flaming, but I do not take it that way.

You have some concerns that need to be addressed.

Round 1 Zombies: I do not feel that it was a game, hence the short review of the matchup.  Zombie kid had a dream, and that was to play at a tournament.  Enough ragging on the kid. (That kid later beat my friend's Elf deck Smile .

Round 2 TEAM MEANDECK TRIN$T4KS Piloted by MEANDECKER Christian (Zhalfirin). He wins the die roll, gets his Trinisphere out turn 1. He wins. Game 2: I go first and go just as broken as him. I win. Game 3: his "board control" is a facade. I could take out his position anytime (rebuild!). When time was called, it was "I" who had board position and would not be defeated.  There were only to be a few turns left and I really do not think he could have beaten SlapJack game 3 by the last turn. It was I who admitted to accidentally shuffling my Time Twister into my library after I cast it, instead of it staying in the graveyard.  It was I who noticed this error. It was I who offered Christian to "take the win" on this error.  He accepted. Team Meandeck's deck has yet to beat me, fair and square. I am happy with my loss. I treat it as a "Draw" in my own mind.

This is not by any means a slam on Team Meandeck. I respect them very much.  I eagerly wait to play against their latest tech with my latest tech. I am, nonetheless, happy with my deck's performance against it.

The progress of SlapJack, the Rogue deck by LotusHead is being developed rather publicly for all to see. I WANT input/criticism of this deck. (which is, if you'll notice, different than the other builds.)

As for how my deck fares against "Good Decks", it is all out here in the Tourny Reports.  Yes, SlapJack is cursed against Fish. I am working to fix that little problem in the bud.  Against the other rogue deck, like the ZuronOrbSclerationCrucibleRog ue deck: That deck either beat Team Meandeck's Trinistaks or drew to it. It's Crucible could deal with Trinistaks's Smokestack. Against other "Rogue decks" or "less than good decks", my deck will waste them! No prob. I eagerly await a chance to play against "Good decks" and then post the results here.

Round 5: Max's Academy deck lost it's steam because SlapJack fought it off.  ComboCONTROL, with Trinket Beatstick Backup.

As a final note, as the User known as BloodyClownSuit is obviously a front for an actual user (due to it's only two posts being devoted to slamming this archetype), I take it that said user does not want his/her identity to be revealed.  That is ok.  If you need an extra TMD name to ask the really hard questions, then go right ahead.  I will address just about all of them (except the why play Tog thing). I will not fault you in any way for hiding behind the Front.

But the comment about calling the other powered players around C&J's out (for a date) WAS actually rude.  My comment was to spur them on to play in the Free T1 tourney with a DCI non-foil Basic Land and Arena Foil Serum Visions as prizes. They may not wish to waste their time on such small stakes as "Bragging Rights" and a few cards.

Zhalfirin and TheLegendOfMagic and others are still eager to strut their stuff and risk playing against SlapJack!

As a side note, I traded my spare Lion's Eye Diamond amd two Auriok Salvagers to a kid at the local shop, and he is building his UberBudget Mini-SlapJack deck! With Worldly Tutors and everything! Who knows, SlapJack could get some new scrub insight and innovation. Worldly Tutor? Living Wish? Green? Hmmmm.

Till next time, keep on slapping! Wink

Maybe Seal.

It was the seal by the way, I'm almost sure of it because you were trying to kill my crucible. Haha, congrats on the win nonetheless.

actually i hope if the kid did have a dream, the dream wasn't to go to a magic tournament and get anally raped by a homosexual deck. i wasn't ragging on the kid, just the matchup. in all honesty i hope your deck really is legit and all. however making claims that it steamrolls zombies on the way to winning a tournament doesn't help.

wait... there's meandeck, shortbus, and you?

this part i do respect just as the creation of abm. innovation shouldn't be stifled.

really, are... you... serious.

go ahead and ask the mods here to check my ip address, and you shall find out i am not the type of person to hide behind screen names. this is my only name on this site and i have limited time to post between random searches and library time.

as for you commenting on "MEANDECK TRIN$T4KS" what makes this deck a meandeck creation? just because a member of meandeck plays a deck, it does not make it a creation of the afore mentioned team.  facts = good, random thoughts in chunks mind = bad.

The Trinket Mage beatstick backup is legitimate.  I've beaten down a 7/10 deck with 'em and a TnT deck with 'em in tourneys.

As for the teams out here, I don't know any.  I only learned of Zhalfirin's connection from his report at a T1 5 proxy tourney winning a Library of Alexandria (Congrats!).

I don't compare myself with Team Meandeck or Team!Shortbus. They have more time and resources than I. My deck is a rogue deck for sure.

Until the next tourney![/quote]
