Auriok Salvager based decks have always been considerations in Type One, but no build really emerged as being a strong contender in the current metagame. The main flaw in the design of the deck is that it is based on a 3 cards combo (Auriok Salvager + Black Lotus + a win condition) when some more optimal combo decks are based on a two card combo only (see Dragon, for example).

This new revolutionnary build pushes Auriok Salvager to the top thanks to a single card that enables all the deck : Tooth and Nail. Basically, the deck is all about ramping to 9 manas thanks to Mana Drain, Sylvan Scryings and Cloudposts, in order to cast Tooth and Nail with Entwine, getting Auriok Salvager and Trinket Mage into play. Trinket Mage gets Aether Spellbomb, which is used to bounce back the Mage into your hand. Replay the Trinket Mage, get Black Lotus and start recurring it to generate infinite mana with Auriok Salvager. Then recur Aether Spellbomb, bounce the Trinket Mage, replay it and find Pyrite Spellbomb to kill the opponent. If one of the critter has been discarded, just get Eternal Witness to get it back!

Here is the decklist for that ONE CARD COMBO DECK !!!1!

2 City of Brass
        3 Underground Sea
        4 Cloudpost
        4 Polluted Delta
        4 Tropical Island
        1 Black Lotus
        1 Mana Crypt
        1 Mox Emerald
        1 Mox Jet
        1 Mox Pearl
        1 Mox Ruby
        1 Mox Sapphire
        1 Sol Ring
        4 Sylvan Scrying

        1 Aether Spellbomb
        1 Pyrite Spellbomb

        1 Auriok Salvagers
        1 Eternal Witness
        1 Trinket Mage

        1 Ancestral Recall
        3 Cunning Wish
        4 Brainstorm
        4 Force of Will
        4 Mana Drain
        1 Demonic Tutor
        1 Regrowth
        1 Time Walk
        3 Duress

        4 Tooth and Nail

SB:  2 Oxidize
SB:  1 Duplicant
SB:  1 Darksteel Colossus
SB:  1 Skeletal Scrying
SB:  1 Vampiric Tutor
SB:  2 Pernicious Deed
SB:  1 Naturalize
SB:  1 Viridian Shaman
SB:  2 Blue Elemental Blast
SB:  1 Coffin Purge
SB:  1 Daze
SB:  1 Lose Hope

Tourney report :

5 players show and we are gone for 3 swiss rounds. Winner will receive a Foil Chimney Imp signed by the store owner.

Round 1.
We are an odd number of players and I have a bye.
1-0

Round 2. Some Zombie deck with Ghastly Remains and Reiver Demon.
I win the roll and open with Underground Sea for Duress. My opponent reveals a hand containing 8 cards and gets a Game Loss for "Drawing extra card". Game 2 I keep the most awesome hand ever while my opponent mulligans down to 3 cards and fails to draw a land for 13 turns. I resolve a turn 19 Tooth and Nail with double Duress and double FOW backup and he scoops.
2-0

Round 3. My brother with his WB Cleric deck.
I gave some candies to my brother before the beginning of the tourney so he scoops in order to thank me. How nice !
3-0

So I win and bring the Foil Chimney Imp home. Auriok Salvager is definitly broken Very Happy

You should totally maindeck the Darksteel Colossus so if one of your win conditions die, you can tooth out the Colossus and wait 17 turns to find a way to combo out.

Merchant Scroll can be seen as restricted in a way because should you have 2 in a hand, only one is really useful (that is, only one can get Ancestral)."

I was at this event and I have to say that the report isn't entirely true. The round 2 Zombie deck wasn't mono black, it had a red splash. You lost the 2nd game game because you were about to combo off on turn 26 and he casted Flare on you with REB backup for the win.

Clearly, both Tooth and Nail and Salvagers must be restricted to maintain the health of the format. One is simply too powerful for what it costs, and the other is a tutor for multiple cards - creatures at that - and ignores their casting costs for the wee payment of 2. Both are distorting the global metagame in horrible ways. I may even write to the DCI to suggest the banning of Salvagers.

I like how you can Cunning Wish into a Daze. Nice Tech.

Where's the Crop Rotation for a Cloudpost?

I think the deck needs more counter power. Have you considered Prohibit?

How can you play a Salvagers deck and not include Siren's Call + Festival as Anti-Aggro tech? How else could you defeat Scuta.dec?

You are lucky your zombie opponent recieved a game loss, I hear that matchup is 40/60 at the best. I mean how do you expect to deal with a second turn Black Knight followed by a THIRD turn Black Knight?

I'm sorry I never give my sideboarding plans for the decks I design.

I fail to see how you can beat the uber powerful C&J's build of Salvagers.
While you combo out on turn 30, he combos out on turn 29.  I suggest you just netdeck his secret tech of Ertai's Meddling.

I think I have a suggestion to improve your secret sideboarding tech:

Transform into Sui-black. It's the ultimate surpirse! Who would expect it?

You would transform from an awful combo deck into a worse aggro deck. Your opponents sideboarding strategies would be completely nullified!!

The french really stands out in you when you're selling candy to get people to concede. Stand proud with your deck Young Master!

"I fail to see how you can beat the uber powerful C&J's build of Salvagers"

First we had ABM, then TheLegendOfMagic, and now "SlapJack" plagueing our poor stores name. Just for the record; that is LotusHead's build, not C&J's as a whole. Baby Jesus and I beg you to seperate the two beings..

So now that everyone has gotten the funny out of their system, it's now closed. This thread is to serve of an example through mockery. You can see the ridiculousness behind a shit-ton of the reports that have been showing up. Re-evaluate what sort of posts you've been making and all should be right in the world.[/color]
