Let's first start by answering the question. Does Fish have any more fish? The answer is No. While the original Mono U builds sported an abundance of fish with Lord of Atlantis, the splash towards R has warranted the use of more efficient creatures.

Here is the decklist of PhantomTapeWorm that was used in the StarCityGames Power9 Tournament. In my opinion, this is the best Fish decklist out there being piloted by the best Fish player:

U/R Fish

4 Volcanic Island
4 Mishra's Factory
4 Wasteland
3 Flooded Strand
2 Polluted Delta
2 Faerie Conclave
2 Island
1 Library of Alexandria
1 Strip Mine
3 Null Rod
1 Mox Sapphire
4 Grim Lavamancer
4 Cloud of Faeries
4 Spiketail Hatchling
2 Voidmage Prodigy
1 Gorilla Shaman
4 Force of Will
4 Standstill
4 Curiosity
2 Daze
1 Misdirection
1 Stifle
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Time Walk

Sideboard
3 Rack and Ruin
2 Fire / Ice
2 Red Elemental Blast
2 Maze of Ith
1 Stifle
1 Blue Elemental Blast
1 Energy Flux
1 Pyroblast
1 Null Rod
1 Crucible of Worlds

As you can see, in the UR Fish, the creature base is as follows:

4 Grim Lavamancer  (wizard)
4 Cloud of Faeries    (faerie)
4 Spiketail Hatchling (drake)
2 Voidmage Prodigy (wizard)
1 Gorilla Shaman     (gorilla)

No where in there is a merfolk. Even in other builds, Flying Men, Suq'Ata Firewalker, and Razorfin Hunter are used and only the Razorfin Hunter is a merfolk.

So now the point of my thread is this. When K.eeper evolved into something more than it used to be, it became 4 Color Control. Now that Fish has evolved into something more than it used to be, is a new name warranted?

It does have a new name, Gay/R.  It use to be just Fish...

It doesn't use Lord Of Atlantis anymore or Manta Riders, mostly becasue Grim Lavamancer and Spiketail Hatchling are just strictly better.

Do you think that Gay/R is the correct name for the deck too? It's still another name that doesn't reflect the deck. Beating down with 1/1 faeries may give people a reason to call the deck gay, but the name still does not reflect the deck itself.

4CControl is a Control deck with 4 colors
7/10 centers around using the 7/10 Sundering Titan
GAT uses Growing Dryads and Togs
UG Madness is a Madness deck that uses U and G
Stax uses smokestacks
Draw7 plays lots of draw 7s
Dragon's combo focuses around Worldgorger Dragon

The only exceptions to this is HulkSmash which many people are trying to change it's name to Tog.

I'm sorry, but who really gives a shit about the name?  You can call it DeckOne for all I care.

And btw, Gay/R does reflect the deck.  It has a bunch of 1/1 gay creatures in it..

I don't think you'd get away with calling a deck that uses cards called Cloud of Faeries, Faerie Conclave, Curiosity, and ultimately Islands brawny.dec or anything closely resembling straight.dec.

On a side note, I'd like to start a petition to get Gay/R known as sausage.dec

Now that's more like it!!

On a more serious note, I'm not saying we should name it something like brawny.dec, but something more associated with the cards being used in there. Even something like CuriousCritters.dec is better than Gay/R.

No, thats fscking gay. Gay/R is referred to by that name, and will continue to be by the securely heterosexual. hom0wned.

edit: Kidding, of course- but come on. It's a deck's name.

It'll continue to be called 'Gay' as long as it runs Curiosity. As in 'bi/curious'.

The inclusion of multiple faerie cards doesn't do anything to bring down the Gay moniker, either.

Personally, I feel if you didn't create the deck, then don't re-name it.

You can re-name any variant you've worked on.  But renaming someone else's deck is like calling the Mona Lisa something like turtle wax becasue that's what it feels like when you touch it.

Stax wasn't named Stax because Smokestack.

Even for basic community, this post is lame - only tangential to the discussion, a one-liner...it's not even a sentence. Do better.[/color]

Because it abuses the stack, not because of Smokestack...

from the article,  basically the answer is because the deck creator thought it looked 1337 to have nice $T4KS signs on his deck list
i don't call that abusing of the stack, it's just stacking the upkeep ability to your advantage
someone who doesn't know the deck at all will be thinking the name comes from smokestack
the very fact that we say it comes from abusing the stack, not because it contains abusing smokestacks with welder/tanglewire blah blah means we're not naming the decks in an intuitive manner

and yes, i think stacks SHOULD refer to the smokestacks in the deck
because i honestly don't expect anyone to look at the ST4kS title for the first time and go WTF
