MtG Type One "Power 9" Tournament
Saturday, October 23rd

We're doing it again - due to the great response we had to our last Power 9 tournament, we will be running another one in conjunction with the Virginia State Championships on October 23rd in Richmond VA!

Location: Richmond Convention center 403 North 3rd Street - Richmond, VA 23219 (804) 783-7300

Directions: For directions to the site please click  here

Time: Registration is from 9:00 AM to 10:50 AM. Tournament begins at 11:00 AM.

Tournament Format: Non-sanctioned Type One (Vintage), modified swiss with single-elimination top 8. Up to five (5) proxies are allowed. Please note that proxies must follow these rules for this tournament:
  • Full name of the card (no abbreviations or nicknames)

Wu, if I come up with some lame excuse of not being able to go, I want you to do everything (short of shooting my girlfriend) in your power to make me go.

Note: shooting me is acceptable.

horizontal scrollbars are NOT tech. URL shortened.

Here's the directions from some random (trully random) place in Toronto.

584 miles. They say 10 hours. I bet we can make it in less than 8.

Oh, man, I am actually giddy. Very Happy

Holy SHIT, I thought I was going to have to wait a year for the next one!  Sweet.  These things are about as close to Waterbury as you can get, without actually being Waterbury.  I recommend EVERYBODY go.  It was a blast last time.

Too bad I already going to GenCon, the SCG makes the t1 @ GenCon look weak...more TSB domination on our home turf!

Obviously TSB will dominate the event, that's a given.  The real question is what team will have the second best showing?  There is no match for Shortbus, so who will be the tier 2 team of type 1???   Will Meandeck be able to defend their standing as number two?   Or will The Fringe supercede them?

We were -going- to win, but we had our priorities straight, and decided to stay in the losers bracket so as to get more pairings with Meandeck.

Klep was on a super secret mission hunting Hi-Val.  He'll get you yet!

I've never won a power tournament, which means that my mojo is gathering momentum and velocity; it's inevitable that I take one of these. Daddy's all pent up and he needs to get his freak on.

One of these days, my tendency to X-0 the swiss rounds of tournaments will continue through the Top 8.

Only one question remains: When?

Watch out.

Cooool! Although I am nowhere near wherever that is in the US, I'll be there in spirit* again. I'm so happy they're making these regular - it was obviously profitable for SCG, at least reputation-wise. I hope it gets more than 200 people this time.

And in the context of the trashtalking that's starting, I just have one request: can you guys at least take the trouble of bringing real decks this time and not all that gay shit we saw last time. I mean, come on, you have 5 free cards. Wink

* "in spirit" meaning staying up all night on irc and reloading the coverage page while drinking as much alcohol as is humanly possible.

This looks like it will be a blast.
I happen to have several relatives in Richmond.

SO, I will be able to strengthen some family ties, do a bit of Geneology, and then spend the rest of my time doing what's REALLY important in life -- playing Type 1 Magic against lots of top quality players. Smile

Nonsense.  I am stating the facts and nothing more; it is not a matter of ego.  Shortbus is the greatest team in all of competitive vintage, this is common knowledge and we all recognize and accept this.

I bow to the mighty American team. We Ontarians are completely enthralled by your eminence. Dicemanx, Shockwave, Petko, Wu, Razor, Razvan and myself only dream of becoming members of TSB.
As for the Europeans - well around here we say

Hey dude - turn around - European on my shoes.

Speaking of Meandeck heads, my head--lush, lion-like mane trimmed short as per usual--may very well be in attendance.  With body attached.  And bearing cards.  It's not for sure, but at this point I'd say it's likely.

So, like, whoa.

I should be coming down with Kowal. I can't wait to meet everyone.

Also, I really want to see how well Forsythe does. THAT should be interesting.

So no power 9 for me...but do trust that I will send the rest of TSB fully armed.

So I might want to go to this.

I know I swore to never cross the Mason-Dixon line EVER again, but what can I say, I'm a masochist.

Someone swinging through the Binghamton area or somewhere nearby, holla at me.  There may be one or two other people intarested in going, so gas and hotel will be hella cheap.
