1. Sound off if you are going.
I am.
2. Who here is actually going to be rise to the top?
The last major tournament was won by someone who NEVER played Type One before - he did his homework and owned. Will teams continue to play people in the top 8, or is something dramatic going to happen.
Speak.

Teams will make a strong showing. The best players in the format are on teams, and thats a fact. Would these players with without their teams? Yes. It doesn't make a huge difference.
Translation:
Certain teams have some of the best players in the format.
(not being on a team =/= being bad)
I am going, and have done a good amount of homework. I'm pretty ready to dance.

1. I am there 2. ShortBus will place atleast 2 people in the top 8 of the main event...and of course PTW will collect more meandeck heads along the way.
My personal goal is to avenge my loss to Bushman at SCG....

I'm not going, but I predict that in a stunning, come-from-behind victory, the Vintage World Championships will be won by the very confused New York Mets.

I think kl0wn is bailing, so that makes only me and Phil covering for the Fringe.
I guess that means some top four slots are still open. Come get some.

It's no big deal - you and Phil will take enough Meadeck/ShortBus heads for the rest of us. And there aren't any Top 4 slots open in the 'Burgh tourney.

At least WTF will be there to own people, although I can't guarantee that the people playing it will be any good. :( Oh, and my power will be with Kowal. Ph34r.

It's no big deal - you and Phil will take enough Meadeck/ShortBus heads for the rest of us. And there aren't any Top 4 slots open in the 'Burgh tourney. Meandeck? Possibly. Shortbus? No. Muzzo, perhaps if YOU were there I at least might have something to worry about. I imagine the mental aspect of the game would take on an entirely different and certainly more, shall we say, intriguing dimension with a female involved. But alas, you are not yet 18, and as such, not yet fully female. I've said it before and I'll say it again: you fringe people can fight it out with meandeck for the title of 2nd best team in vintage. But please do keep it real, you guys are just NOT on our level. And wtf?! How did Sylvan get roped into this team??? He's supposed to be the impartial, purely factual numbers guy. Pip, don't you realize that you represent something that is beyond the petty squabbling of teams and egos. You've made a name for yourself as the embodiment of fact and truth in the format. Pure hard cold unassailable data. How can you be that if you are showing up to THE major event in the format wearing Fringe gang colors??? How can you be impartial and purely factual if you've got their back? Say it ain't so Sylvan! Please tell us you haven't sold out.

Marc, as you learned in IRC, 'tis true, I am on a team. However, seeing as you didn't even notice that I had been on it for months, I think it's pretty clear that my data is unaffected. You mentioned the appearance of bias, and I'll repeat myself here for the benefit of the audience: being part of the Fringe is no different bias-wise than liking some people on the board more than others, it's just that with these few people, I don't share their Magical speculations around the internet.
Also, I don't know how other teams work, but the Fringe is quite strong on the "do your own thing" work ethic. Example: Kowal's schtick is to come up with an endless supply of decks which have no bad matchups until he doesn't like the concept anymore, at which point it loses to everything. My schtick is to be a supercomputer, and tell Kowal to stop running Darksteel Citadel and not add Wheel to Parfait. So you see how little threat this is to my data analysis.
The real reason PTW speaks out against me joining a team: [00:37] <DrSylvan> PTW ph34rs what the Fringe will accomplish with a fully-tuned Pip Stormbind deck. he can't win against that with his tiny men.

Shortbus: Let's see how you do on the good side of the M-D Line ;>
Ahhhhhhhhhh no I started =[
But let's just say I think I have a deck chosen and I actually put some thought into it, so NYA.
Then again I might not...

World Championship? Surely wizards must realize a World Championship can only be held @ Worlds. Not Gen con. I mean, what could they be thinking. Look at that prize structure. I think you folks should skip this event and come to the real Worlds Type 1 event in California. Just look at this prize structure: 1st Unlimited Black Lotus 2nd Unlimited Ancestral Recall 3rd Unlimited Mox Pearl 4th Library of Alexandria All for a $10.00 entry fee? @ shortbus- If any of you guys make it out, first drink and lap dance is on me.

Hmm, last year we did great above the Mason-Dixon line, wouldn't you say Thorme? Well lets see. Of the 3 of us that drove there from Richmond, VA together...2 of us Top 8'd the main event while the other was busy winning the $250. I'd say we're fairly comfortable owning pretty much anywhere.

One tournament does not make a team?
hmm...2 members in t8 @ GenCon last year 2 members winning the $250 tournament @ GenCon last year 2 member in the top 4 at the ECC tournament (PTW winning) multiple members in the top 8 at CCC (PTW winning) 2 members in top 4 of 1st SCG p9 tournament (and 2 more placing 9th and 10th)
Seems like the Bus has been dominant on the East Coast for a while.

I haven't missed a T8 in a non-duelmen tournament anywhere I played (fine, it's mostly netherlands, germany and belgium) in 1.5 years. In duelmen I got fucked on tiebreakers 3 times with finishing 9th I own the bus. I must be a plane. oh wait.... I AM FUCKING SUPERMAN HIMSELF. bitches.

People from the Northeast are just better than people who arn't.
Just look at us, for god sakes. Like, we're just so awesome, sexy, and intelligent.
You guys from the south can get back to us a little later... how are you even accessing TMD down there? They have internet? Computers? Electricity?! News to me. Well, just as im typing this, you're moms are calling me. And you sisters too. Oh, wait... thats the same person. Fuck!
Westerners? Don't even bother coming. The whole "our meta is 2 years behind the real world" thing is toooooooootally lame.
Lets get one thing straight. TMD was created by a Northeasterner, and we will always be the true people of The Mana Drain. You other guys can try all you want, but lets look at who won GenCon last year? Also, how about who won the SCG P9 tournament? And who INVENTED the proxy rule? Who INVENTED the huge power tourney? And the whole XXXX Championship tournament thing? Thats ours too.
We win.
