Wicked Familiar

Creature -- Horror
Whenever a nontoken creature you don't control is put into a graveyard from play, put a [SOMETHING] counter on Wicked Familiar.
Remove 3 [SOMETHING] counters from Wicked Familiar, Sacrifice Wicked Familiar:  Search your library for a card and put it into your hand.  Shuffle your deck afterwards.

It's a Demonic Tutor on legs that only goes off after three of your opponent's creatures die and go to the graveyard.  What's not to like!?

What if it the counters were +1/+1 counters? That would be awesome. Also, since you have less control over what dies, I don't think you need to exclude tokens.

+1/+1 counters would be cool, because that gives you a second route to the tutor effect. Also, does this need to sacrifice?

Shouldn't this be "Whenever a creature your opponent controls" and not "Whenever a creature you don't control"?

I don't see why the "nontoken" restriction is there. It seems clumsy; and if we're only talking about your opponent's creatures, surely it's not overpowered to let it trigger for all of them?
Also, the "remove counters and sacrifice" cost seems a bit clumsy. I'm not sure of the best way to fix that.

I think this should keep the clause about it being a creature you don't control so decks that can take a creature and sac it cannot abuse this that easily.

I like the +1/+1 counter idea, but I think that a 1/1 that pumps whenever a creature dies is too powerful for {1}{B}.  It may be better to cost this at {B}{B} or even {1}{B}{B}.

Khabal Ghoul wasn't very good even back when there were no good creatures. This should be fine. Just make the sacrifice mandatory when you hit the third counter, if you're really worried about the power level.

I think that if it was mandatory, it wouldn't be as playable.  I think that a cost of {B}{B} is fair for a 1/1 that needs a lot of support to do anything good.

EDIT:  I just realized that if this thing had 3 counters on it, you could block w/ it, put damage on the stack, sac this, and possibly get card advantage off this.  (Wicked Familiar gets a card and possibly kills the creature it is blocking).  I made it so you can only use the ability as a sorcery.

Ugh, that's a mistake. It's far too cluttered as it is. As regards block/damage/sac, I'm going to have to give it a big fat "so what?".

I think that numerals are only used to describe damage. Instead of the numeral "3", I think you should have the word "three".
