I've always wanted to make a red card that draws four cards. An early prototype was:

Card Name
4RR
Sorcery
You may sacrifice two Mountains rather than paying ~this~'s mana cost.
Draw four cards.

I know this is too good. And I know that red is the colour that draws cards the least. Nonetheless, recently I was inspired by not one but two red cards currently in print (albeit printed in Portal and Starter):

Control of the Court
1R
Sorcery
Draw four cards and put them into your hand. Then discard three cards at random from your hand.

Goblin Lore
1R
Sorcery
Draw four cards, then discard three cards at random from your hand.

Drawing from the above, and my love for Avalanche Riders and Goblin Ringleader, I've created:

Anarchic Satyr
3R
Creature –- Satyr
2/2
Haste
When Anarchic Satyr comes into play, draw four cards, then discard three cards at random from your hand.

Speaking of Goblins, I would love for this to be a Goblin. Although, Anarchic (adj. of, like, or supporting anarchy; likely to produce or result in anarchy) Goblin (or Goblin Anarchist) seems to be somewhat of an oxymoron. Aren't Goblins an anarchic race? From Ten Things You Might Not Know About Goblins: Goblins believe they invented the rock, the best weapon ever; Goblins live in small groups ranging from 10-15 individuals; Goblins will eat pretty much anything they don’t think will kill them; Goblins’ favorite social pursuits are sex, gambling, and tinkering with new weapons and armor; Goblins believe bigger is better (what’s better than a fifty pound club? A hundred pound club); Goblins conquer and raid because they need the space; Goblins find large noses, feet and hands particularly attractive in their mates; Goblins are named after the sound their mother makes during delivery; Goblin parents regularly disown their children, trade children, gamble children (and spouses), and otherwise switch family units; The Goblins’ biggest asset is their ability to quickly reproduce (you can afford to experiment with trial and error if you get a lot of tries).

If this were to be a Goblin, something like Goblin Scholar would be more appropriate (but any ability like Haste would no longer be appropriate):

Goblin Scholar
3R
Creature –- Goblin
2/2
When Goblin Scholar comes into play, draw four cards, then discard three cards at random from your hand.

The flavor text could be:

Math is hard.

Or

Four rocks take away three rocks equals...

Current Wording:

Goblin Scholar
3R
Creature –- Goblin
2/2
When Goblin Scholar comes into play, draw four cards, then discard three cards at random from your hand.
Math is hard.

Interesting. Basically, if your hand is empty, you draw a random card from the top four of your library - which, since your library is usually random, is basically as good as a normal draw.
(you also get three cards into your graveyard, which may be useful).

I like the idea of making it a goblin too... to justify the haste, maybe Goblin Prodigy?

Incidentally, my version of a red card-drawing spell, from a year or two ago:

Smoke Visions
XRR
Sorcery
Remove the top two cards of your library from the game. If their total converted mana cost is no greater than X, then until end of turn, you may play those cards as though they were in your hand without paying their mana costs.

Being a goblin is good enough that this should either be random type with haste, or goblin without haste. The synergy is more than worth the 2 damage.

Truth be told, I find this card kind of boring. It's just a creature with an exact replica of another card tacked on as a comes-into-play ability. If it were a thematic comes-into-play ability (such as the one on Nekrataal), it'd be more interesting. As it is, I think if WotC wanted this kind of ability in mainstream Magic, they'd have given it to us, by this point.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

Change made to creature type Goblin.

Laurie Cheers: Good point. If your hand is empty, Goblin Scholar is like a Striped Bears with the benefit (?) of putting cards into your graveyard (Threshold).

Ephriam: Point taken. However, WotC is constantly making creatures with an exact replica of another card tacked on as a comes-into-play ability or ability. Heck, even "Artifact - Equipment" was just an excuse to reprint old creature enchantments under the guise of something new. I think Goblin Scholar's ability is flavorful.
