I've got mushroom clouds in my hands

You guys are REALLY gonna hate this :-)

So now that I got the hang of these new flip cards, I thought I'd try my hand at one. The name was inspired by something Dandan said in a different thread.

Silent Knight - W
Creature -- Knight
2/1
When Silent Knight is the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, flip it.
All is calm.
Holy Knight
Creature - Legendary Knight
1/2
T: Destroy target black creature.
All is bright.

While I initially designed this card purely for flavor reasons and to get my head around the concept of this flippin' thing, I believe it came out quite nicely. It begins as a Savannah Lions, but if an opponent targets it, it becomes a an Exorcist on acid. Then why would you target it? Because you want to get rid of them nasty efficient beats. But what do you get in return? Some less powerful, but tougher bastard who kills all your critters. But hey, you may think at this point, what the hell else is black gonna target this with than removal? True, true....but if it survived its first turn, it can be used to kill off his largest creature all the same! Unless you attacked with it, ofcourse....oh the decisions involved! Throw the fact that it's a half-Legend in the mix and I believe you have an interesting card.

Current wording:

Silent Knight - W
Creature -- Knight
2/1
When Silent Knight is the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, flip it.
All is calm.
Holy Knight
Legendary Creature -  Knight
1/2
T: Destroy target black creature.
All is bright.

At first I was very put off by the Savannah Lions aspect of this. I'm still not sure that's a wise idea, but I'll let it slide for the time being. From a purely flavour standpoint, if the flipped card is going to be Legendary, give it a name more Legendary-sounding than the very generic "Holy Knight."

Well, for one thing, a Holy Knight is a rare thing, so it could stay.

For another: I'm sure you'll understand that I'd rather drop the Legendary status than give up the name....something like "Silent Knight / Bazu'ka, Fabled Knight / All is Calm / All is bright" somehow doesn't have the same ring to it.

Using Dandan names and/or flavour text is usually not a good idea.

Actually this dude is actually pretty well designed. Thumbs up.

I'd say drop the legendary status, then. If Northern Paladin doesn't have to be Legendary, neither does this. Although all of the flipping cards we've seen so far have one half Legendary doesn't mean that all of them are like that. At any rate, it doesn't seem like it's all that important, except perhaps from a Kamigawa flavour point of view, that one half be normal and the other half be Legendary.

I think that's just to keep all the rares in the set as legends.

I have a feeling they'll all be like that.  It makes the new legends rule interesting.  Playing with 1 is great, but play with 2?  If the second one gets flipped you're stuck with none.

No stealing my name! Silent Knight is taken!

Nice job though, good card. Very interesting.

At any rate, if you're going to keep the Legendary status, I think it needs to be "Legendary Creature -- Knight" instead of "Creature -- Legendary Knight"

That above all else is true.

Oh, and while some of you may think of this as a strictly better Savannah Lions, it is ofcourse not since your opponent basically controls if/when it becomes a 1/2 to some degree. And also: white does get strictly better Savannah Lions these days...from CHK:

Some Hound Thing
W
2/2

No drawbacks. Savage, huh?

The W 2/2 guy does have a drawback, he's Legendary.

I love this card. And WOTC has had its share of wacky card names. Keep it as is. Its awesome flavourwise, and very useful. Don't change a thing Smile
