What are the general types of things that can be targetted?

Players, Cards, Permanents, Spells, Abilities on Stack

Am I missing a general category?

It probably isn't good to think about things like that, as R&D has been really pushing the envelope lately.

However, in general any object on the stack, any permanent, any card in a zone, and any player is a potential target for something.

Unglued showed us that ANYTHING is targetable. We'll probably see more things in Unhinged that target miscellanious body parts, etc...
