So, I was going through my box of junk to get rares together to trade in for my missing pieces of power, when I stumbled across the card, Dizzying Gaze. Dizzying Gaze costs R, is an enchant creature, and reads "Play Dizzying Gaze only on a creature you control. R: Enchanted creature deals 1 damage to target creature with flying."

Now, I realize that this ability isn't some kind of super-power ability, but I feel it's solid enough for testing against Fish, 4cControl, and Control Slavery.

The good:
 * Will hit pentavites before they become mindslavers/other artifact threats
 * Will knock out opposing fish creatures (except lavamancers, and possibly VMPs if still played)
 * Will eat angels alive
 * Can be good vs. U/G madness playing wonder (a typically bad matchup).

The bad:
 * Targetted means morphlings live (no mono-U help)
 * won't hit welders, lavamancers, prodigys, factories, and other non-flying creatures
 * Can be dead card vs. some aggro.

I really want some feedback as to whether or not this card seems like it would be useful in fish. The more I think about it, the more I can come up with matchups where it's good, but I'm unsure as to it's powerlevel vs. other sideboard cards that would be brought in vs. matchups. As usual, this would really just be a fish card, although I could see control slavery possibly boarding it in a heavy fish environment.

Thoughts? Comments? Flames?

It doesnt seem likely that you will have 5 R in fish to wipe out an angel. I have the same thought in regards to Arrogant wurm. Anything smaller than that you can kill with Grim Lavamancer, so any possible edge this card might give you should already be covered by other cards.

I believe what Ben is saying is true.  There really isn't anything that's worthwhile pinging that you can't already remove with Grim Lavamancer.

Also, what were you suggesting being removed to accomodate the Dizzying Gazes?

That card is terrible.  First off, it's a creature enchantment that doesn't replace itself.  The only other creature enchantments considered for play in Type 1 are Stupefying Touch and Curiosity, both of which replace themselves rather quickly.   Secondly, it doesn't even take care of the creatures Fish has the most problems with: Welder and Angel.  Your assertion that it will "eat Angels alive" is laughable as that requires you to essentially have ALL of your red mana sources in play, a highly unlikely proposition.

And unless you're talking about a swarm of Scryb Sprites or similar tokens, won't FTK do the job on Angels and Madness creatures (with or without Wonder) for less R?

Wierdly enough, I was thinking of a much better peice of tech the other day (though probably just as useless). Tropical storm against fish. One green mana to deal with every x/1 blue creature in the deck.

yeah, I was really just checking to see whether or not it would be viable. Apparently it A) isn't, even against the mirror, and B) didn't belong in open.
Mods, feel free to lock away.
