Here is another creature to play with the poison counter theme. Both black and green creatures traditionally are good at poison. I'm going to suggest that for purposes of flavour in this set, the green creatures be good at giving poison counters, while the black creatures/spells are good at manipulating poison counters. To wit: Venomous Witch   Creature -- Cleric 1/1  , Remove a poison counter from a player: Target player gets a poison counter.

Current Wording:
Venomous Witch {1}{B} Creature -- Cleric 1/1
{T}, Remove a poison counter from an opponent: Target nonartifact creature gets -2/-2 until end of turn.

In light of the present argument regarding the power/feasibility of poison counters, I'm going to change this somewhat to something more in-line with creating tension between using this card effectively and winning with poison counters. I was saving this ability for a different card, but I don't think that the initial idea I proposed in this thread is going to fly. Check the current wording for the new idea.
Having typed out the new idea, it occurs to me that WotC doesn't like -1/-1 counters anymore. Would it be fair to make it -2/-2 until end of turn, then?

-2/-2 would definitely be fine. In fact, this might be fair with an additional mana somewhere and tapping to kill non(something) creatures outright. (something) would probably be black or artifact, depending on which is more flavorful.

Since it's rather hard to poison a machine, I think it should be non-artifact creature.
