This weekend there was a tourney for an UNL Walk in Barcelona, we had a visitor: a certain Carsten, better known as Mon, Goblin Chief.

Well, he was on holidays and didn´t have a single card so I took my cards and constructed some *TOPSECRET* variant of the popular *CENSURED* T1 deck.

Anyway, I played with the leftovers of my collection and managed to complete a fully powered RG-friggin-Beats with some help of friends. This is truly a horrible deck. Never-ever leave home without 4 FoW, unless you´re playing combo or Workshop (and even then they´re good).

Anyway Carsten stumbled in the SF over Goblins. Ph34r the Barcelona metagame.

The top 8:

1 MUD (missing 2 moxes)
2 Goblins
3-4 Landstill
3-4 Carsten Very Happy
5-8 MonoU
5-8 More Goblins
5-8 GAT
5-8 Even more Goblins

At the moment I only have the decklist of the winner to present:

Morales-MUD

Da Beatz
4 synod centurion
2 sundering titan
1 karn, golem
1 angel de platino

Da Lock
4 Smokestack
4 Tangle Wire
4 chalice
4 trinisphere
3 crucible
3 damping matrix (minicombo with Karn)

Da Mana
4 metalwolker
1 black lotus
3 moxes
1 Mana Crypt
1 Grim Monolith
1 mana vault
1 sol ring
4 Workshops
1 Tolarian Academy
4 city of traitors
4 ancient Tomb
4 Wasteland
1 Strip Mine

Expecting the T8 decks this week and a full report of Da Goblin Chief.

@ Gaby: lol, I was hitting the secrecy-issue that much, because the variations are not CAB-only and the version feels really good. Still I think it's no problem at all to say that I was playing a ControlSlaver variant which differs quite a lot from those currently played in the states.

I lost the Semis because I'm a bad player, I didn't change my SBing according to going second AND I did not mulligan a hand which I knew would loose to a 1st turn Lackey - after seeing my opponent be really happy when he looked at his hand. Oh well. Rolling Eyes

As for the report, I did take close to no notes, I actually just wanted to do a Q'n'D. Maybe I manage to come close to JPs funnyness, even though I see some problems there. Sad

Two times the report will read: "My opponent hands me his deck to shuffle. I count the number of cards. I call the judge. I win the game"

I never count my opponents decks. I should start doing that.

I finally managed to write up my Q'n'D for Barcelona.

Sorry, no decklist, reasons can be seen above. I was playing a variation of EnSlaver, though.

Round 1: Eduardo Hernandez, Ugb DryadHate
Die-roll: Him
Game 1 & 2: He gets turn 1 Dryad, turn 2 Ancestral and three+ Counters backup both games. I loose.
I resolve to Pile-shuffle my other opponents. Stupid me forgetting about it.

Round 2: Gerrard Ferres, Stax
Die-roll: Him
Game 1: He goes turn 1 Trinisphere (FoW), turn 2 Crucible, turn 3 Smokestack. I can't drop Welder because I haven't drawn a Fetch or Volcanic Island yet.
Game 2: He is now playing 62 cards.
Game 3: He keeps Volcanic, Welder. Turn 2 Ancestral. He stalls on that one land for 2 turns. I win.

Round 3: Felix SorryIForgotYourSurname, CunningShining
Die-roll: Him
Game 1: I play twice the amount of carddraw he does.
Game 2: See game 1.

Round 4: SorryI Didn'tWriteDownYourName, Goblins
Die-roll: Him
Game 1: His turn 1: non Lackey Goblin. His turn 2: Waste, go. My turn 2: Tinker->Pentavus + cast Welder.
Game 2: I am able to count up to 61.

Round 5: Christian Sastre, RAffinity
Die-roll: Me
Game 1: I have to Tinker for Plats early and manage to slave him lategame with 2 Welders so he has a Ravager in play during his turn. His board dies, he scoops.
Game 2: He keeps a slow hand, I slavelock him on turn 5. He doesn't understand the combo, it seems, so I play his turn, use his Skullclamp to find Ravager. His board dies, he scoops.

Round 6: ID with Landstill

Quarterfinals: Ernesto Sanchez, Goblins
Die-roll: Me
Game 1: Hardcast Plats turn 3, protect it till he's dead (I'm at 0 long before that).
Game 2: He keeps 1 Land with double Lackey and stalls at that till turn 4. I have Mystical, double FoW and FTK till turn 5.

Semifinals: Jorge Pinazo Donosa, Goblins/white (this is becoming ridiculous)
Die-roll: Him
Game 1: I have Fow, he has double Lackey, SGC and Piley. I loose.
Game 2: Turn 2 Tinker (he represented REB turn 1), with FoW, get Pentavus. He disenchants it, FoW, REB. I make a Pentavite. Next turn I get Chalice 1. Pentavite + F/I races a lone Piledriver, his hand full of CC1 stuff.
Game 3: I forget to change my SBing according to going second. He seems to have the Lackey considering the look on his face. My SBing hits m eon my first hand AND I don't mulligan it for some reason, being fully aware that this hand will loose to turn 1 Lackey. It happens and I loose by being a bad player.

Well, just a short read, I hope you had some laughs. Sweet tourney, nice people, I would come again, if it wasn't like 250€ to get there and back.

Mad props to Gaby for giving the complete deck to me and to Xavi for letting me stay at his place for close to a week. Props to all the other cool guys I met in Xavi/Gabys friends, you were really great.

Lackey rules.

The second time Jorge entered a final, but both time he missed the P9-piece because he lost (the first time to me Very Happy)

If you don´t own power and play tourneys where proxies are not allowed, Goblins is one of the best decks to make. But this is the first time we had three of them in the T8. Shouldn´t be THAT good.

It was cool to see a TMD face in real life. Maybe one day we´ll return you the favor and swarm Germany with some Goblin decks.
